Default Replace the srock belt drive?

Has anyone successfully replaced the stock belt drive with either gears or a chain drive? I have searched the forum and can only come up with someone wanting to try it. I would like to keep the stock transmission if possible because of the way it is set up, but I am already starting to hear the familiar clicking of the belt slippping.
Thanks

I was wanting to try the chain drive at one point, but it was cheaper to go with the stampede tranny.

BTW, I was in Tucson all last week...

You might be able to swap a chain drive from a Kyosho twin force, but I personally hate dealing with getting tensions right, and I don't know how hard it is to get parts/cost of those parts. You might be able to swap a set of clod gears in, the main thing is getting the offsets of the gears right, and making sure the mesh isn't too tight and free of slop.
