if it solid rod, strength shouldn't be an issue.

what is the d-ring on the rear for? or is that top secret?

looks good- I am liking these "ugly" tubers. (in no way do I mean that as an insult)

Yes, it's solid rod, but never know if in a high climb, you roll over and flick with the roof, could bend a little the roof, besides of you protect the electronics and tranny in a roll over.

In the 90% of the cases, you must not have problem

VERY NICE Jason!!!
Looks very promising!
I cannot wait to see this version in person, especially since I missed the last two! :-(
If you change your mind w/ this one... I want first dibs, if poss...

Same Q: about the D-ring.?

I think it looks tough, w/o any tubes supporting the roof.
but
If you must do anything, how about something like this?

It's solid rod, it's not goin anywhere! Maybe a thirty foot fall would bend it but at that point your gonna break more stuff than a tube chassis.

What do you mean buy UGLY? Is that what there calling them now days?

The D ring is a tow point to give it a little bit of realism.

I think the Dorkstar tubers started that term..? (Not sure though)

This is a shot of how the axles will sit in relation to the chassis.

My buddy Jerry is stopping by later to drop off some goodies. More in a bit.

Reflection 08-30-2007 04:10 PM

Starting to take shape Jason. Can't wait to see how it works. Where's the battery gonna sit?

phishead1101 08-30-2007 04:38 PM

Jerry stopped by tonight to drop off some parts we've been working on.
http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...ER_DAY2029.jpg

Got my links top and bottom, front droop springs and Jerry brought back a set of Junfac Bead locks from his trip to Korea. I had him get a set of the blue outer bead lock rings to go with them.

Although the Imex tires look impressive the only thing they have going for 'em' is the height of the tire. I may use these just to bash around on the trails.

Raptorman, Patience young rock hoper! Are you coming out this weekend?

More in a bit!

raytard 08-30-2007 04:43 PM

How the hell did Jerry get to your house so quick???
He was just here a few minutes ago...

Tell him he left his "kid's" over here too.
Thanks!

Have you guys decided on a location yet? I might be able to. Got to work Friday and a side job Saturday morning. Still got my super in pieces right now but should be finished up tonight. Haven't had the time to replace the tranny gears in the R2 yet........for the 2nd time:roll: I may try and replace the gears tonight and Friday night then crawl Saturday and/or Sunday.

L-TOWN CUSTOMS 08-31-2007 09:18 AM

looks good in the first pic up above wit ur steering u right wheel looks a little catywhompis like ur steering rod is to long so it is pushing them out

mrpink 08-31-2007 09:46 AM

no way of moving those lower links to the inside of the skid? You might be alight since you got that rock slider there. I just hate getting hung up on stuff like that.

Its still ugly:flipoff:. I still like it "thumbsup".

Yep, The steering linkage is off another truck. I just put it on there for the mock up. I would like to go BTA with this but I'm not sure I have enough room. BTA steering is on the list!

Mr Pink, I have had the links on the inside. The lower links are at an angle were they bind a bit on the skid. I could bend the tamiya part on the axle but I'd rather not. I added the nerf bars because it was getting hung up on those lower link mounts during testing:twisted:. I'll see how this works and go from there."thumbsup"

 UGLY=GOOD
