The chassis is working out GREAT !!! I built it with a 12" wheelbase, that's 1/2" shorter than before, to help shorten the turning radius. It's just too short on the vertical climbs and doesn't hold the front down. I had some scap carbon fiber kicking around and decided to fab up some sexy new chassis plates with the rear plate being 1/4" longer. I also removed some excess weight from the plate mounts while they were off. I saved 3 grams with the longer carbon chassis plates, and 2 grams from each plate mount. Not only do they look cooler but what a difference on the rocks !!! |

Brilliant! I only wish I had half of your fabbing skills. If you ever decide to market that crawler, I see the TVP chassis going the way of the dinosaur! |

| New Top for Buster
I'm really happy with the HPI Baja Bug body I've been running for the last year but it seems to on every other 2.2 I see. I saw someone at Nationals running a buggy body and I got to thinking... It's from a Losi XX buggy. I used about a 110 % of the body. I dig the moon buggy look it gives Buster. |

I know everyone is going brushless, my Unlimited Clod is going to make the switch soon, but I have no major problems with a lathe motor in my 2.2 . I just don't like those 80's tech cans and endbells they come with. While checking out a new crawl spot, I stopped at the LHS and scored a nice used mod motor. These Swiss made V-style motors are TOP cans like most lathe motors so endbells and cans are interchangable. I swapped out the old 13x2 armature for a new 55x1 lathe and installed new brushes and soft springs. Built-in capacitors, BIG brushes, a LED when it's running, and it LOOKS HOT while it runs cool. |

That's pretty cool, we used to buy the rebuild-able aluminum end bell Mod motors and install a 540 armature in it for the endurance races at SRS raceway in Tucson or Tempe, don't remember which one it was. I might try that for my Clod as I still use lathe motors in it! |

| Brushless and a New Transmission
Well I finally decided to jump on the brushless-bandwagon. The light weight and drag brake are proving to be too great of an advantage to pass on any longer. I found a sweet little brushless from GWS for their Slow Stick parkflyer. It retails for around $20.00-25.00, it's 1.8oz and 1020kv, perfect for a TLT. One problem though, it ate my transmission something a lathe motor never did. So in order to run the brushless I had to make a new tranny. The new AE RC10GT2 had a 4.09:1 trans, the perfect gear set for a crawler tranny. |
