There is a pretty big difference between the two as far as size goes. | |

Made a little more progress tonight. In order to use the Maxx shafts and stock 87t spur gear, I had to bust out the Dremel and grind on the yokes a little. Then I bolted the motor and driveshafts up to the tranny, and set it into position. I slid the tranny out through the center opening in the SW3 chassis until the Maxx yokes almost touch the engraved plate, in an effort to center the motor as much as possible. I will probably only be able to secure the tranny with 2 screws because of this, but that should be enough. I'll also probably have to lengthen the upper front links and move them to the outside of the chassis to clear the driveshaft.

Yeah that shaft is way too close to that link. You have no choice but to move it to the outside. What motor is that? 55t?

Nice Brad. I've been running my tranny (losi xx) with only two bolts in it for a year now and I haven't any problems, it's not going anywhere. I've also got my tranny all the way over so the yokes just barely clear the side plate and the upper links are mounted outboard. I can't tell a difference from them mounted on the inside, but the chassis is much more stable and balanced now. |

Managed to get a little more done this afternoon. With the tranny set in place I scribed the outline of the footprint/base into my skid plate. I put a small piece of electrical tape on the bottom of the tranny, and used an X-acto knife to cut the hole pattern into the tape. Then I pulled the tape off the tranny and placed it over the scribe lines in the skid. This gave me my hole locations. It would have been easier to use the stock AX10 skid to scribe the hole pattern, but I didn't have one here. I drilled the holes with an 1/8" bit, then countersunk them from the back side, and bolted the tranny up. I pretty happy with how it came out, motor is tucked into the chassis way more with the AX10 tranny then with the Pede tranny. |

Hey Bender, Other than drilling the output shaft on the tranny itself. How did you get the Max Shaft to fit with the 87 spur gear? I have been wanting to upgrade to the max shafts but it seems it would hit the spur because of the size. I almost have mine done and would love to use the max shafts!! Please show me the way o OBE Wan!!!
