Funny thing is though, I've got almost an inch less ground clearence on my sw3 and Brad's still sidehills and climbs better than mine. I just don't get it.

You need some of those cement shoes, they'll keep your rig planted.

And this whole time I've been trying lighten everything up.
I guess getting the rig itelf as light as possible and then putting all of that weight back in the wheels is where it's at.

Do you know the lengths of them? I dont really know what size links will make a 12.5 in. wb. If you are running a 60/40 setup though then it will be different.

You'll want the lower links to measure just under 4" to the center of the rod ends, and the uppers will be just under 3" to the center of the rod ends. That's for a 50/50 set-up.

Very sweet ride Bender.

I was curious as to if you have considered putting dig on your truck? Or don't you believe in it?

I know that the main part of a win is all in the driver but I think the more control of a rig the better

Anyways, keep up the great work and thank you for doing such a good job in making our awesome sport even better

Thanks.

I will probably try dig at some point, I've been saying that for a while though. I've got a driveshaft set-up I'm working on, but my end up trying an R2D tranny.

I just put dig on my SW3 this weekend. I really didn't think I needed it until I went to another clubs comp. I can't wait to get some time with the new dig set-up (R2D).

im going to do a dig set-up on my sw3 soon.. just need to take some time to make one.. my buddy blakeski has an rd2 in his cobra now and got the linkage figured out now so it works flawlessly.. really a cool thing to have. now all we need on the axles is some adjustable caster so we can get some better steering out of them.. lol

Brad can you show me a diagram of how to connect up the "saddle" packs that you are using, I can't seem to get my head around it.

I don't have a diagram, 666 made the packs for me. You can see in this pic that the two 3 cell packs are connected with a wire over the top of the servo. The rest of the cells are connected with battery tabs.

I've never tried a full droop set-up on an SW3. Let us know if you try it, and how it works.

Talking battery postioning

i run one of those big 6-cell flat sticks i want to break it up and put it on the rear axle is that weight detrimental to the performance. since now that i have been severly out performed by my partners sw3, i have to buy one as soon as they are available again.

btw i cannot believe what these sw3 will climb and side hill
I'm stunned and amazed

You do not want to put the battery on the rear axle. That will completely screw up your weight distribution. If you're running a 6 cell stick pack, I would suggest getting a fatrock front servo/battery mount. It will keep the weight up front were you want it but it will let you drop the battery down right on top of the axle to get a low center of gravity. You can check out the build thread on my sw3 for some pics.
