Nah, stick around!

Most people won't see the other thread considering its talking mostly about the 1:6 scale truck, so I'll keep this here for people to see.

These will debut the 5th of July at Walmarts across the country.

There will be 2 versions...1:18 and 1:6 scale.

If I remember correctly, the 1:6 has a 17" wheelbase.

My guess is that a bunch of them will be bought for projects just as the 1:6 Avalanche and H2s were. Should be great project vehicles.

Motors are on the axles...and there's selectable hi/low gearing.

As for a spec class...the owner of the 1:1 company (www.scorpioncars.com) has some cool ideas in the works. I'll call him up and see if I can persuade him to come on here and give up some info.

Spoke with the owner...

There's a limited number of the 1:6 Scorpions that'll be sold in red. 7,500 of them to be exact. They'll have serial numbers and certificates that give the history of the Scorpion.

The others will be yellow.

I've been told that they will be upgradeable. These guys are trying to fill the void between toy level and hobby grade RC vehicles.

Spec classes are planned.

The master plan is to have crawling courses laid out on semi trailers (think of one that'll unfold via hydraulics) that can be taken to Wal-Marts across the country.

Timing systems, etc will be built into the courses and each of the trailers will be built identical to one another.

This means that the dude in Florida can compete on the exact same course that the dude in Utah competes on.

That's the plan, and there will be different classes from "box stock" to "unlimited".

Unlimited class would have to keep the body intact. Rest is up to the builder.

Got a call earlier that the 1/6 scale trucks are held up in customs. 1/18 scale trucks are fine.

Walmart is looking at sending some of the 1/6 scale trucks by air across the country so they can be in stores on July 5th as planned.

Unlimited has to keep the body in tact eh...? Everything else is up to me? Oh, I think the body will be the only thing from the truck in that case

Thats a pretty cool idea, but I wonder if the trailer thing won't be too expensive a venture. Yeah alot of kids will buy these. Maybe even the upgrades. But do you think they are going to be that competitively motivated to beat other people's times? I guess if there is a walmart shopping spree on the line (something like a $250 gift card for the #1 in the nation... which thinking about it, that'll probably be the case).

I'll keep my eyes out. I am a little interested in the 1:18th

So - its the 5th now, has anyone got one yet?

The only site I could find about them was funrise.com, and they only talk about the 1:18 scale. I would like to see the 1:6 scale ones(anyone have info on them?)

I picked up a flyer on them at EJS and the only websites advertised are the scorpion site, and funrise???

I went by today and they didn't have any. So who knows if they got pushed back, or if Colorado is just late to get them. I wasn't feeling nerdy enough to ask about them.

Mike told me that the 1/6 trucks would be 2 weeks late thanks to Customs.

The 1/18 trucks should be there.

I need to head over to Kinko's today, Wal-Mart is on the way.
