| Destroyer's Nilgai (Blue Bull)
I will start off by saying I rarely do buildup threads since I generally don't run the same truck for more than 2-3 comps and end up tearing it down before it is even finished. I think this one will be different. Anyway, since I decided to do a thread, I needed a name for the project, and since it seems everyone running Doulbe J's "Da Bull" is calling theirs "Toro ___" I decided to be different. A quick Google search for "blue bull" came up with "Nilgai", a form of Indian bull with blueish skin, so the name stayed. Anyway, on to the good stuff. The start of this project: Good tires and a great chassis! Most of the parts would come off of my old, old (2 trucks ago) comp truck. After about 20 mins. Da plan? After a day and a half of work, the result: Nekid: I still have lots to do on it, but that will have to wait until the next time I go home. I need to make the real links and swap everything to matching hardware. Also have to figure out body mounts. Then tactical weight placement and minor suspension tuning... SPECS: DaBull Chassis TLT Axles w/ alu knuckles up front WK wheels w/ Losi Rock Claws Rebel 2 Mag Mayhem Futaba 3305 servo Futaba 3PDFX radio Pede Trans w/12/87 gearing custom skidplate/ link setup using Hulk link mounts Elite 1500 2/3A 6 cell pack LMK what you think! -Destroyer Last edited by Destroyer; 10-16-2007 at 12:58 PM. |

Nice even took time to make the back drop for the picture, nice touch. What are you running in it?

I brought the truck with me back to school since I left straight from a GTG, but haven't been able to run it yet. Maybe today after lunch. So many good places, it's hard to choose. Thanks for the compliments! -Destroyer | ||

Yep, just got back from a comp and took a few while testing afterwards. I will get some posted up once I get back up to school later today. EDIT: No pics until my computer gets fixed. Got all kinds of viruses when i tried to log on here the other day when the site was down, and can't get anything to work. Last edited by Destroyer; 10-07-2007 at 07:48 PM. |

| Took 1st yesterday at Da Bull's first comp! I really like how this truck drives; it is very balanced and predictable. A few pics while the computer cooperates. -Destroyer |

It looks great. Could you post a clear shot of the rear axle for me? I tried a long upper link setup kind of like that a few months ago, but it had a ton of axle wrap, so I moved them back over the driveshaft/pinion u-joint. Actualy, I tried a few diferent setups and didn't like any of them. I'm just wondering what I did wrong... not high enough maybe?

I don't have any pics that really show the rear axle, and I don't have the truck with me at school this week, but the rear mount is the same as the front, just not as tall. Link mount is still centered over the axle case seam and maybe about .75" above it. I do have a pic of the mounts themselves if that helps you any. -Destroyer |

Yeah, I got them off of a Land Cruiser scaler I bought a while back. You probably had 2 fronts to allow 4ws.

So far it is doing well. I made a few changes over the weekend- I mounted the front grins inboard, much like you originally did on your AX-10 Bull, to get the shocks working on a better plane, as well as spaced the rears in some for the same reason. Really helped smooth the travel out and reduced some binding in the shocks. I also mounted up my old Moabs on some Junfac beadlocks to test them out. I also switched to my old puke orange beater body because the Ford just wouldn't do well in roll over situations. I'm hoping the LHS still has that body in stock, since it is disco'd but they have had one sitting at 50% off for a few months now. If they don't, I may have to try stripping the one I have and repainting it blue. |

So are the upper link mounts the Hulk ones or not ? The first time I saw them I thought they were custom built. Where can I fìnd them ? Is there a chance Towers has them ? Thanks Filippo |
