Well, the cowbell comment makes sense to me now, from the pic I thought they were attached to the inside of the rim somehow. I'm sure it is going to be a blast to drive.

Nope, it'll be like yer first time with a girl in high school. Ain't gonna last long but it should be very memorable.

That looks like a winner there John. I shouldn't spend the money for a Quark right now but I'd love to try it out with what I got and pick up the Quark a little later. If it's close to a Cobalt puller then it's got to be great.

Yup, the washers make a nice "tink, tink, tink" sound while I'm driving. I've had 'em on my comp crawler for a while. It's already fun to drive in the back yard, I can't wait to get it on some courses.

So I did some speed testing today. With the 20 tooth pinion acceleration was unreal but top speed was not quite what I was looking for. It's fast but not fast enough.

I swapped in a 22 tooth pinion and that seemed to be pretty good. It's prolly a little slower than the Stampede with the 12T Stinger. I think I may call that good for two reasons. One, the courses are only 24" wide and this speed seems to be at about the limit of what I can control going around corners. With the rear steer this things a handful for sure. Two, as it goes by you can smell the Mamba25, so that's prolly all it can handle.

I've got a 24 tooth pinion I can throw in depending on what the courses look like on Saturday. I'll get pics up tomorrow night once all the detail work is done.

Thanks guys.

I snapped some pics of Peanut in his race ready form at lunch today. Slugz once insinuated that I don't post enough mandatory pop can flex shots so I included one of those as well.

Thanks Tanis. It's a 1320mAh ThunderPower. In my competition crawler I get just under an hour of run time. In Peanut...I don't know yet.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say........your runtime is going to go down, but worth every second of it.

I use 3 cell lipo, so you could get away with 12-14 cells possibly. If they are sub-C the extra weight will tax the motor though.

Since it's likely going to rain or snow for this Saturday's event, I thought it would be wise to add some protection for both the motor and the electronics. I made a debris shield out of a spare piece of lexan. It bolts to the side of the chassis and will help to keep shit out of the motor. The electronics are pretty well protected from the bottom by the styrene between the chassis plates and the debris shield seals off the openings in the side of the chassis.

I also got my helmet painted and put some stickers on it. Willy is going to drive for me and he looks ready to go.

Also added a sticker to the nitrous bottle to give it some attitude. Cody likes skull stickers so what can you do. I also threw on a fire extinguisher since the ESC runs so hot....you never know.

I checked the weight last night. It weighs in at 7lb 1oz with 3lbs 14ozs on the front end. That gives it a 55/45 front/rear weight bias. Just what I was shooting for. Saturday we'll see what needs to be tweaked for the courses.

Thanks Stew.

I took Peanut out in the snow this weekend. The wheelspeed is great and it is very driveable. I'm really happy with his performance.

I took some video, but because of problems with my computer, I can't get a video edited without it having jumps or pauses in it. Almost like it's dropping frames. Hopefully I can get this sorted out soon.

I modded the DX3 with a toggle switch, so controlling the rear steer should be a little easier. It's still going to be hard to rear steer at high speeds though. I'm thinking this might be the perfect application for a Punk RC steering computer......

You should do the truck pulls with this beast. Pull that sled around the off-road track a few laps.
