Default ? shimming tlt ring and pinion

Junked a ring and pinion last night. Wondering if anyone has had longer gear life by shimming them. Also trying to find some 5x7mm shims with no luck.

thanks

Hmmm, haven't had the first trouble with my axles yet. Have lost a spure gear but that was because i was running 48pitch as opposed to 32 pitch spur and pinion. Now haven't had the trouble. I would be curious how many people have trashed a TLT axle.

i shimmed mine from the start. when i first put them together they seemed kinda gridy. i think i just used traxxas 6mm shims, i believe they also make 5mm but i had the others. i put one on each side of the diff and one on the inside of the pinion. now nice and smooooooth. have not noticed any problems with a 1mm bigger shim just in case. just have to play around to see where you need to shim. just remember you need alittle lash.

I shimmed mine almost exactly like TXLT did after I stripped a ring and pinion. Its been working a lot better now.
