Assault Buggy....my new tuber 2 Attachment(s) I originally was designing this off of a friends buggy but when he sold it I changed some stuff around to model it off of a newer buggy that was built by the same guy. Once I started building though, some of the stuff went out of the window so you can see parts of each buggy in the design. With this build, I wanted something that was a little more capable than by cruiser tuber. It worked great but the size of the chassis hampered it's performance sometime. I'm currently using all the running gear out of it but will eventually stock the old chassis with parts again so I can have both rigs up and running. Specs TLT Axles - stuffed with RCP CVD's & R&P's front and rear Losi Transmission w/ machined locker and driveshaft flange Holmes Crawl Master Mamba Max MG995 servo (i think) TQ3 Cut Rock Lizards on R/D Customs Aluminum Beadlocks Traxxas Big Bore Coilovers First pic is the Bash Buggy which was the original buggy I was going to build Second pic is the "Caddy on Dubs" buggy that I used. Both were built by the same guy and you can see a lot of the same lines in both. |

Delrin skid plate. All bolts are counter sunk so the heads are flush with the bottom of the skid. I used the dropped subframe to lower the tranny/motor and get better link placement for the front links, yet keep the low hanging surface area as small as possible. The skid is just big enough to fit under the motor and transmission. It will have aluminum panels. I have the templates cut out but will need to go pickup another sheet of aluminum tomorrow. I have taken it out a few times before I finished up the final links and stuff and it works awesome. The crawlmaster and mambamax is a great combo. It would be nice to have a little more gearing but right now has a great mix between being able to crawl and still have some wheel speed. I'll get some pics of it out on the rocks this week. |
the crushers are the new ones that are just now being shipped out, there made out of the soft compound so hopefully theyll be better. |
nice rig, i like the big headlights....curious as to why so many people bend links for clearance and do nothing to raise the drive clearance....poor driveshaft is going to take a beating...not to step on any toes, jus my .02 Nick~ |

Show me how to make a bent drive shaft and I'll do it ;-) I was thinking of building a carrier bearing setup since the rear shaft is so long, but that will take too much effort for now :lol: Usually when I get hung up on the links it is because the rig is leaning over to that side and riding on the link, so the driveshaft is usually out of harms way. I got the skins done today and also added some more weight to the tires and am soaking them in simple green now. Somehow the front pinion found a way to lose a few teeth but RCP is being awesome, like usual, and sending me a new one 8) I'll get some better pics up in a bit |

that is looking great! i was waiting for someone to use that can. i always notice it at the grocery store. you probably don't want to take the saw to it but if it were mine i'd probably move those rear tubes of the cockpit back a bit. i mean it looks great as it is but i was just thinkin about how the 1:1 looks. just my 2 cents. which ain't worth much |
The steering works great like that, both sides will turn until the steering arms are up against the axle. Originally the subframe was supposed to be just big enough to fit the tranny and then the frame above it was supposed to be a little longer for the scale look. My goal with this one was to have the very least amount of frame to keep from dragging over everything and keep it low. My last one had a huge skid and really hampered it in some places. Somewhere along the way with this one, I made the upper frame the same length as the subframe and didn't realize until I was almost done...whoops :D Now even less to drag "thumbsup" My next one will probably be a full on scaler and I'll pay more attention to the proportions. I originally was going to use the cans for the skins but after I came up with the idea and started saving cans, I couldn't find the assault tallboys anymore. I ended up finding sticks of the actual can on ebay for cheap and I am using those ontop of some thicker aluminum sheet I found. The can stickers are a tad bigger then the actual cans which really helped out. |
