The RC4WD tranny steering kit is...well...not so good. You'll do better mounting your servo behind the tranny where you can get a straight throw at the disconnect actuator rod. The kit puts it at a pretty nasty angle that will cause it to bind up, or to even bend the rod depending on the servo you use.

The pics are back now, I guess too many people had viewed them that day, but they were visible again when I just checked.

PaloAltok5 & Tanis are right on about the straight throw of your actuator rod.
This is how I mounted my servo on my SW3. You can see I mounted my servo almost in the center of my chassis. Mounting the servo to one side will give you problems on side hill crawls. You can see in the pictures that I used plastic spacers to adjust the height of the servo. I also used a clevis not a collar on the disconnect side of the actuator rod. You will need to drill a small hole in the disconnect shaft. With the clevis you can mount your servo lower and still have a straight throw. You should be able to set your truck on a flat surface on each side RTR, and not have it tip over. This setup works great, every time without fail.

I would suggest you straighten the throw of the linkage on the R2D. The way it's set up with the linkage arm angled will cause some binding. The straighter the throw the better. Consider mounting the arm on top of the aluminum servo horn. That would eliminate the angle you have now. R2D's can be difficult to disengage when then are bound up.
