| "Newbie TXT-1 build up"
My first attempt at fabricating a servo mount. It's 1/16" thick carbon fiber but feels fairly stiff. I'll trim it down a little once the servo is actually mounted. We'll see how it holds up. Last edited by kirkm; 06-09-2005 at 01:15 PM. Reason: I want to add more stuff... |

Good job. Keep everyone posted how it performs. Might be an alternative to a metal servo mount.

Thanks. I still have quite a bit of work to do yet but I'll report back on how it holds up. Here's an updated pic with the servo mounted up. I installed a servo saver 'cause I'm just not that sure about running without one. It's a Hitec HS-615MG - what do you guys think - saver or no? |

Nice work, I like the look of the carbon fiber. If you are going to run a servo saver, the one you have is the one to run IMO. |

Look what came in the mail today. You won't believe this but I sold my stock ch***is on ebay just days before discovering this site. Well there's no way I'm cuttin' on the pretty blue Tamiya ch***is so I ordered up this carbon fiber deal from extreme racing. It will be far easier to cut on and I'm hoping to be able to mount my raised transmission without cutting the mounting arms off of it. Last edited by kirkm; 06-09-2005 at 06:52 PM. |

A few shots of the cut chassis. My existing New Era skid mounted up nice. I still have to drill a couple of holes for the lower tranny mounts but that's no biggie. I have to say that the rigs on this site have really inspired me. I would have never thought this sh!t up myself... |

That looks nice man! What kind of wheelbase do you plan to have? Where did you get the aluminum mounts that I see inside the chassis, that you bolted the new era skid to? Nice! |

nevermind on the mounts question, I see they are standard hardware that come with the skid.

It's sitting at just over 15" on the wheelbase and I'm pretty happy with that for now. I ordered some longer links but may return them - I haven't decided. Sorry for the blurry pic but you get the idea. |

I just had these shafts lying around. I'll probably install them and use them until they fail.

Installed the maxx shafts and I'm not pleased at all. Too much grinding / turning / drilling to get them to fit right - and they're still sloppy - but probably just my lack of super dope skillz... Ordering Revo's |

Went to Hobbytown and picked up a couple of Revo shafts. This is certainly the way to go. These things are nearly a direct bolt on. I had to turn a little off of the one that goes on the motor side to clear the transmission but other that these things just about installed themselves. I used just the hardware that came with the shafts - no other additional screw pins or anything like that. |

I had to trim some of the heatsink dealy on the other side as well. Other than that they work great.

You'll be so much happier with the Revo shafts, I've been running them for over 6 months and I haven't broken one yet.
