At the June NERCC crawl, I dumped my TXT off a hill and broke/bent all of my cantilever mounting bolts. This, combined with bieng tired of bending shock shafts; made me decide to try conventionally mounted shocks. I bought a set of nitro buggy shocks that are 4.75 inches long. I think they're Associated parts? Anyhow, they're mounted with balls at both ends so they don't bind at all. The flex is close to what I had before with the cantilevers, and the spring rate is about the same. These shocks are much tigher than my old Megatechs, they actually dampen the movement instead of piss out all of the silicone! I'm going to play on the rocks today to see how much difference this setup makes. It had better be a bunch, because I REALLY liked my cantilevers! http://www.nercc.net/images/new%20shocks.jpg http://www.nercc.net/images/new%20shocks2.jpg http://www.nercc.net/images/new%20shocks3.jpg Last edited by fullmodtxt; 07-05-2005 at 03:05 AM. |

Twisted, I've been holding off on ditching the cantis for a long time now, for a bunch of silly reasons. I got the truck to crawl really well with them. I burned off a few packs today and it is even better than before. Kona, there is some tough stuff out here. I'd be happy just to keep up! Maybe it's just my 'puter, but the img tags didn't make any difference here. They still show up as links and not pics. |

Yeah, you seemed pretty sold on the canti's, so it was suprising to read that. I remember when you went against the grain, and gave me the advice to consider keeping them. Keep us posted on how you're liking the new setup and how you think it compares. Welcome to the dark side. :-) |
