Default Steering Servo Upgrade

So I have my TXT running now, and the HiTec servo that came with the radio sucks. When I turn into an obstacle, it forces the servo to skip a tooth on the gear and send the steering out of alignment.

I am wondering what you guys are using for steering servos, and do you use a servo saver? I am thinking of using a TMaxx servo, with a saver. I am open for ideas....

I run the hitec HS-5645MG and it works great. I dont run a servo saver, I just run the aluminum servo arm that came with it. It's really up to you, but if your only rock crawling you should be fine with out a servo saver.

Sweet, I am really disappointed with the stock setup I have, so it is getting an upgrade before I crawl anymore. The truck is a pure crawler. I am going to get either the HS645MG, or the HS705MG, the 705 is 166/207 oz-in of torque.

You have PM there simtechray. I also picked up a Hitec HS 5645MG today so that I can get the truck rolling. I have finals coming up so I need some stress relief! But I am very interested in the specs, and more info on the 1/4 scale stuff.

If your looking for some good cheap powerful servos go to www.servohut.com. Check out the GWS servos I got two servos with 111oz of torque for $30. They steer my Clod smartly

I picked up a Hitec HS 645MG, and love it. However, I am having problems with the stock servo mounts that the TXT has. The servo pops out of the mounts. Is there any cheap way to keep a high torque servo firmly mounted in the stock location? Just need a cheap fix while I get money and time to move the servo on top of the axle and build mounts.

What tires and size are you running?
Is 111oz. enough to turn the tires when the car is still? Better yet, is it enough to turn the tires when they are in a bind.

Also, what is the highest tourqe rating before you get into 1/4 scale?

I run the stock tires with the black metal gear only servo savers. The servos can turn the tires while the clod is not moving and it can turn the tires into rocks or through binds. They are really power full servos though they are a little slow but its better that way. The slowness helps on slick surfaces, the holding power of these servos are also rock solid. I would get the servos on sale on the front page they have a little more torque than what I have and they have metal gears. I ordered one for my Bruiser at $20 a servo its a steal.

Is Bruiser a company or someone on the Forum?
Do you know the torque ratings on them?

Hi Guys,
I have used those servos from Servu Hut and they are perfect. Strong and a lot of bang for the buck. I also have the SO6 MG (metal gear servos) that they are selling and that really rocks.

Dollar for dollar there is not anything better out there.

Ok, I bought one of these servos and it went out after just 3 batteries. Is there a servo with similar specs and price, but physical stronger (i.e. metal gears)?

Is there a certain Hitech servo that everyone is running?

EDIT: I broke 3 of the internal gears

item number PS705MBB from Http://www.fmadirect.com 110 oz-in double bearings, full metal gear. NOISY AS HELL but works great! I have beaten the piss outta it (Still not tucked back far enough) and its holding up way better than I thought it would. Not a huge powerhouse but does the job.

What servo did you buy a SO3 with plastic gears or So5 with metal gears. What really broke? You can also buy hitec servos from www.servohut.com
