Default Did a little cutting yesterday...

Well, I finally put my TXT chassis under the knife. I crawled last weekend with JasoninAugusta, 4XAdict and Highmark.... found a lot of things with my rig that needed improvement.
I stretched the wheelbase out an additional 3/4" for a total of 15.25", moved the links to the top of the axle and mounted the other end of the lower links higher on the chassis. I didn't like the idea of raising the transmission (higher COG) so I left it in the stock location, I did trim the lower mounts off. I cut a little over 1/2" off the bottom of the chassis. The new center clearance is a hair under 4" loaded with a 7-cell pack and stock TXT tires. The bottom screw on the tranny will be shaved off flush and screws countersunk on version 2.0 of the skidplate. This was my way of securing the tranny from moving.

My blurry, cheap camera pics.....

Yeah, still running the swaybars

Painted the extra body that came with the TXT kit Lime Green to resemble my 1:1 crawler

Four wheel steering is my next project. I have a spare Hitec 645, I'll probably try using a Y-harness for now with my 2CH radio. I thought about using a shorter servo arm on the rear servo, hopefully getting the rear to turn less than the front but still enough to help negotiate tighter courses.

Good job y0!
The stock TXT definately needs the center raised, it's definately a limiting factor.
I wonder if the lower center of gravity outweighs the benefit of more clearance?
I also wonder if your little nub sticking through the skid plate is gonna last long?

Hey, don't poke fun at my little nub!

While the kids were taking a nap I got out to the shop and kicked out V2.0. The Nub got hit with a die-grinder and the screws are countersunk, so the bottom is smooth now. I also put a bend in the front and back to help slide up and over rocks.

I think keeping the tranny low will work well for me. I flip over a lot more than I get hung up so I need to keep the weight of the motors as low as possible. ;)

Hehe. I have a secret 'flip over' button on my transmitter!

Hey 4X, I think I saw Revo shafts on the Tower site. I'll look for them again and PM you a link. ;)

Thanks, I got 4 complete shafts off ebay, they should be here by the weekend. I actually finished the 2.5s off today, twisted one completely off.

Yeah, got after 'em with the wire snips yesterday. Still need to smooth out the rough edges with a dremel. I'm trying everything I can to make 'em stick like your Jr. Swamp Dawgs.
