Default Project Rok-Yacht

Haven't seen a build in here lately, so I decided to post up my work in progress...

The goal isn't something that is totally scale, but rather follows the idea of a truck I saw at Upper Tellico several years ago.

Scale wise, my Jeep is the Red one beside it sitting on BFG Krawlers... This truck made it look stock sitting next to it. LOL

My twist will be using a JK 4-door body instead of a TJ/CJ mix like the one in the picture. I haven't seen a JK on here built yet "south-eastern trail rig style", plus I just couldn't wait to hack up a JK body... LOL

The parts:

TXT axles
Reign K2-4 Chassis
40 Series Proline Narrow Beadlocks
40 Series RC4wd Rok Locks
Axial tranny with 6mm CDW Outputs
New bright JK Body
Maxx Drive Shafts
7t Cobalt Puller
2s2p LiFE
Rear HPI MT2 aluminum shocks

The basic look I am going for:

Got a little more done today. Looks like the wheelbase should end up around 16.5 inches or so...

Yeah, John Project 127 would be something i could totally see you doing. This top truck challenge is going to have to happen. Maybe you can get a company bobcat or something over and dig out a tank trap and make a long mud pit in the swamp. Rok-Yacht is lookin good man!!

Holy sheit, I know what I'm building next. I need RC4WD to get that planetary trans and transfercase done. Then I need a plastic 1:10 scale 4 door Jeep body, hack that up and GOLD.
I need to build a new tuber chassis.

Patience, Patience Patrick and Blane... LOL

Finally got some more done. It is officially a roller now. Still a lot of work to do but it is finally coming together. The shocks are just temporary for now. It will eventually be running coil overs mounted on shock towers. This will be real close to the final ride height though. The wheelbase is 16.25" and it has right at 5" of ground clearance.

Looks great man. I am building a JK now as well. Its the Skyjacker Clone in the 1.9 section. Keep it up. Are you going to repaint it?

I wish! LOL I still have to hunt down a HH Puller and Mamba Max/CC BEC for it. I also have to find two standard sized servo's that can handle turning those big tires for the front and rear steer.

I am definitely repainting it. Not sure on the color scheme yet. I will do a lot of body work on it though to get it looking good. I am also considering doing some sort of a custom hood on it, but not sure on that yet either.

I hopefully will finish getting the body mounted maybe tonight and then I will be working on the new shock set-up and filler panels for the fenders, etc over the next few weeks...

Could you please tell me what the width over the outside of your wheels is? Where did you get those lower link mounts and what type are they?

It looks great, that poor little tranny looks lonely all by itself though :-P

14.5 inches from the out side of each tire. The link mounts are tlt tamiya mounts that I drilled sideways through the housing. The tranny will look better with a 7t puller hanging off of it.
