No it's not an illusion, your right the rear end is longer than the front end. I have the chassis biased forward between the wheels to keep the weight of the tranny and twin motors as far forward as possible |

Sorry for not updating sooner, its been really hot here 43*C (109.4*F) and its supposed to get hotter tomorrow So needless to say things round here have been moving a little slower than usual. Way too hot to go outside to grind and drill and cut in my garage, even though I'm dying to do so No probs with the skid plate, already had a stainless steel one that I made for the old chassis, just designed around it. By the way Stang, it fits like a glove just another testament to your good work converting that chassis Here's what I have got so far... And here is how much flex I can get without shocks or driveshafts in the way... Stay tuned for more once this bloody heat wave ends |

hello very cool frame, just my opinion, but i think the skid plate would look nicer inside that sweet frame, and to let you know i have 7 sets of txt axles if you need a replacement art,and trans cases with gears

| Thanks man. Planning on using some Integy Piggyback Savage Shocks that I got a while back. Need to do something about the friction of the o ring seal against the shaft, but other than that they are pretty good. Just waiting for this heat to stop so I can make the mounts for them. Quote:

| It lives!!!
Well after a lot of fiddly fab work it lives again. Here's a shot just after I finished her... And here's a couple of shots of her on the rocks, performed really well and climbed obstacles it wouldn't even touch before. All pics were driven into, and out of, the position you see... Couldn't get up the second lip in its previous state in this next shot. Can now These two shots were taken one after another The 1st and last shots in this group are my favourites. Only 2 probs 1) She tries to twist herself up when things get really stuck, going to try adapting the stock sway bar into the rear lower links. 2) Bolts on the Thundertech CVD's keep working loose and the wheel keeps falling off, even with thread lock on them. Any thoughts Doesn't look good when people are watching something they've never seen climb like that, then a wheel falls off and overtakes the truck Really doesn't look good |

So how has this new frame worked for you? Did you get the problems solved? Where can I get a set of those side plates? How long are your links, what kind of shocks, etc, etc. My TXT-1 has been sitting on the shelf along time waiting for a good looking setup like yours.

The new frame has worked out great, I got mine from STANG KILLA SS. But it might pay you to find some other brand, Integy is not the best As for the link length they are all different to suit the custom mounts I made for the axle, you can see the top mount plate on the rear axle, in the last pic in the prev post. The Wheelbase is just shy of 17 inches. |

Needless to say, I think it looks great. I just sent an e-mail about the chassis. Did you go ahead and use the stock trans and did you clock it? What motor did you wind up with? Thanks

Yeah used the stock tranny clocked with 1 Warrior 35t with a 9 tooth pinion. BE WARNED! Warrior motor will probably snap the stock axle shafts. You may want to think about Thundertech CVD's for clodbuster they fit beautifully as the splines and steering knuckles are identical |

This turned out awesome! Good to see the chassis is all together and working well. It's great to see a TXT-1 super class crawler. I'll always have a soft spot for the good old TXT-1, even though I run Clods more. The TXT-1 was the first monster to introduce me to rock crawling. I am sure you'll get the bugs ironed out. Sometimes it you cannot fully stop the torque twist, as it's just the nature of the beat, but you can make it a lot more sure footed. Perhaps you might consider throwing some sub-c cells on the knuckles. That way you could ballast the axles down with some useable weight. You could also limit the suspension flex a little. Seems 90 degrees of articulation is way more then you'd normally need. That should help limit some torque twist too. Great job. Love how this turned out. |
