| Revo Shafts for TXT-1
Hey Guys, I'm thinking about buying a set of Revo drive shafts for my TXT-1, influenced manly because of you guys! The Suspension, ground clearance and wheel base are all stock. What are the benifits of using Revo shafts and are there any problems or tips I should be aware of before I fit them? Cheers Last edited by 4X4XFAR; 09-01-2005 at 01:25 AM. |

I like Revo shafts because they're light and pretty much bulletproof. The only problem I ran into was getting the yokes to seat all the way down on the shafts, axle and tranny, so I could get the Maxx screwpin thru. I had to grind a little off the end of my tranny output shaft and the pinion shaft on the axle. Here's a link: I've seen lots of posts asking about Revo shafts... |

If you are running the stock wheel base you may also need to shorten the shafts a little to keep them from binding up when the suspension compresses. The female side of the shaft should be the only one that needs to be shortened.

Ya, revo shafts are the best for rock crawling. Stock revo length revo shafts will only let get a 15" minimum wheel base ON A TXT.

Yes, you will have to mod the shafts to fit a stock wheelbase - they will NOT fit. I used the shafts and yolks - only had to trim the alu plate on the tranny and the yolks a bit for clearance. http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=58200 (Holy crap! I was still using the stock battery container in that pic!) |

So, how much farther can the Revo's extend than the TMaxx's? I just extended the back of my TXT and the TMaxx wouldn't fit. So I put a VERY short driveshaft on the back of the regular driveshaft so it has a 3rd joint about an inch out from the axle. I haven't tried it yet because I didn't notice one of the threads on my link was flat. The ends don't stay screwed on long like that.

So what your sayin is, I can only fit the shafts to my TXT if it has a minimum wheel base of 15", what is the wheel base of a stock TXT then?

i think i read somewhere that a txt has a wb or 13+ and the max length a revo shaft can handle is 16+. what id like to know is ... does the revo need modifications for it to extend the wheelbase to 16? someone should post a 'revo how to' on a stock tranny with pictures please.

the Revo driveshafts telescope...one half fits inside the other half. To make the wheelbase longer the only thing that needs to be done to the Revo shafts is to remove the little blue boot on the shaft. Then the shaft will extend/compress as needed. i dont mean to hijack 4X4XFAR's thread here, but i just got a revo shaft (1 only in stock) to do fitting test, etc. the question that comes to mind is, if i use the yolk (part 5453) to connect to the stock juggy/txt tranny, which requires shaving, will this weaken the yolk? it doesnt seem like there will be enough strength with the kind of torture these part will get. TIA! |

Ok, I've read the threads over and over again but i still have to post this. I bought the revo shafts for my TXT. I know that its not a direct fit. Do i really have to extend the wheelbase of my TXT to fit it? Will changing the lower links to longer ones do the trick in getting the revo shafts to fit? OR do I need to change the top links also? And last but not least, whats the length of the lower links that I need to change to in order for the revo shaft to fit nicely? Thank you all. p/s: I'd like to fit the revo shaft on it stock length without extension or compression of the rubber boots. Last edited by Ares17; 10-04-2005 at 08:34 PM. |

You can take the blue rubber boot off the driveshafts, and cut the female side to whatever length you need. If you do stretch the wheelbase, you will need new upper and lower links to keep your caster right.

So am I reading this correctly? I can get a maximum of 16 inches using a stock jugg/txt tranny with the revo shafts?

Cool, THX v33. I don't have the REVO shafts yet, wasn't quite sure how long they were or how they were designed.
