Well im in the works of installing my 4:1's.. The top half of the axle housing was easy. It was when I got to the bottom half I ran into problems. After grinding in the bottom half, it was paper thin on the bottom, so thin I pushed it through LOL I was wondering if anyone out there made a "pumpkin cover" for the bottom of the TXT axles. I already have the bottom of a aluminum can fabbed up to epoxy on. I just think it will not last very long, and it will give way and hit the ring gear.. My ring gear is pretty exposed now after I cut out the paper thin area some what cleanly.. LOL Any ideas ? Thanks |

I've been putting mine off for the same reason. I'm thinking about brazing up a steel cover, and I'll do a write up on it if I do.

I came up with something if anyone's interested. The spools I got were drilled and tapped for revo spur gears, so I picked up some RRP 40t spurs. Yes, you can only get them with the clutchbell, but I have a revo so it's not a huge loss. I imagine you could sell the clutchbells on e-bay and recoup some of the cost. Anyways, these gears are signifigantly thinner than the ones that come with the 4:1 kit, and the teeth are a little shorter (the pitch is the same and the pattern is still good) so you only have to cut the little braces out of the bottom half of the case and you don't have to get into the bottom at all. Plus RRP steel spurs are practically indestructable |

I made some of those up from soda cans... They just dont seem strong enough to last, they would just get pushed into the gear after some hard hits.... Im thinking of taking a spray can bottom and cutting/welding it to fit, then epoxy it to the housing.. |

i used this on mine: structurally sound and slippery once dry. dries within 5 minutes with a 2 hour cure time. i also use this for styrene fab as well(FYI). |

| that is just hilarious! yeah if you get time... it was posted a few posts up. Ha! that just goes to show, no one reads previous posts. lol pretty cool trick though, using the bottom of soda cans for a skid plate. that beats my idea of using cans to make crush cars. lol
