My first attempt on a TXT crawler.

Hey guys, first off this site is so awsome!! I picked up a copy of rc crawing and I was hooked. I logged on to this site and never looked back, after reading many late nites, i decided on a TXT. My first rc was a clod when I was 19. I searched ebay and cl for several weeks and finally found my deal, a like new with electronics for $200. What a deal!"thumbsup" The first thing I bought was a set of RR 10t pinions and a Bronco body. I painted the body last weekend, bright yellow with white top and black flares, turned out pretty good for my first paint job. I also bought some 5/16 aluminum rod for extending chassis. I mocked it up and decided on 18" wb. It looks awsome. I took some pics earliar so I hope to upload them soon.

Ok, so i installed the 10t pinions and took it out for a trial run and before I used up a battery I noticed the trans was making a weird grinding noise. I took the trans apart and realized I stripped the main gear out on one side. UHH! Do you guys have any idea why this happened?

Do you mean the gear that your pinion contacts?

was your gear mesh set right?

AXLE 69 03-22-2009 09:53 PM

Yeah the large center gear which is drove by the 2 pinion gears, stripped out one side. I noticed when I set the gear mesh on it the set screw was hitting the gear on the edge so I moved the gear in closer to the motor plate but it was still centered on the gear. I set the gears so there was a little lash in them .
