| Can this be done with stock links?
Is it possible to get a ~15" wheelbase using the stock txt links? Looking to to stretch my stock txt a bit. If so, any tips on how to do it? Thanks |

Switch the links around by putting the shorter link on the top and the longer link on the bottom and install the lower link above the axle instead on the bottom. And you'll get about 15.5 to 15.75 in wheelbase.

Usually, the flipping of the links top for bottom is accompanied with cutting the bottom of the chassis off, so whether the links are the correct length without a cut chassis, I'm not so sure. But doing the link swap, and cutting the chassis will get you a ~15.5 inch WB. Notice the holes in the upper links, they were the lowers before. And notice the location of the lower links inner mount hole? That was to get the caster correct at the axle. Doing this results in almost a 15.5 inch wheelbase. |

i thought caster wasnt an issue with crawlers in general ... is this needed for tranny types, specially the txt/jug?

Caster angle of the axle has a direct effect on the driveshaft's universal's angle. It's not real important, but to get a safe angle is important. Too much positive caster (kingpin leaning back) and you get bad universal angles. And there is an effect on steering, but when the truck is all twisted up on rocks, or on an incline, the angles are usually pretty far off from normal anyways.

I've got a 17" wheel base using 8 bottom stock txt links, nylon lock nuts and 26mm rod ends. See my thread aka chop, cut, rebuild...

Thanks for all the info. EeePee are these cross braces for the transmission? If they are do you have a pic on where they mount to the trans? Thanks |

They just sandwich the transmission. The only thing holding the trans are the two upper screws.

Yes, you will need longer driveshafts. I'd go with the Revos because they're light and bulletproof.
