Default Narrowed TXT Wheel (s) Update 9/19/04

Hello all
Been fiddling with the idea of narrowing a set of wheels for my cut tires. Had a spare moment while in the shop today and decided to give it a try. Turned out sweet. What I did was narrow it from the back of the wheel. Cut the rear bead off the wheel (in da lathe) then took the wheel down to the "webbing" on the back. This ends up making the wheel 2.750 at an overall width. This is just shy of an inch narrower (.955 actual). Since I did all this in the lathe the two surfaces to be glued are near perfect. Smeared my favorite CA on and presto.......narrowed wheel. End up with more offset, taller tire and more side-bite with the tire like it is now. Got my new set of wheels this weekend and Sunday commenced to narrowing. Did my three remaining old wheels too just for grins. All turned out very nice and look as if Tamiya made them this way. Have to see how they work out now. Here are da pics.

Thanks for the comments. Tire/wheel combo is working out super for crawling and "other" stuff. The hitch you see was something I whipped up real quick for truck pulls one weekend.
