| Revo shafts on a TXT?
Hey Wheels I know you did it. How did you mount them to the tranny and axle? I'm gonna start cutting this week and bought a Revo shaft today.

I think it's maxx 2.5 yokes, and washers to space the pin.

How about if you just bolt them right on like I did? They are a direct fit on stock TXT axle pinions and trans output shafts. Wheelbase is set at 15" on this mock up so you can get an idea of how long they are. |

How did you get it to bolt onto the tranny without hitting? Cause the Revo yoke is too large to fit onto a stock TXT tranny without clearancing. It bolts up to the stock pinion, and I use 2.5 yokes on the tranny end. Althogh I need to buy a new one, cause I broke my front.

I don't think the rivo shaft would sit any lower then the lower links causing you to loose clearance.

seriously! So what i gather one end of the shaft will fit on the axle end then the male side of the revo shaft needs to be replaced with a 2.5 maxx slider yoke to bolt to the tranny. Is that right and is there anything that needs to be done? I'm cutting the chassis today after work. Then I need to make a tranny mount/skid plate and mount the susp. links |

Jay Jordan's post on RCMT Hi Everyone, I got my hands on some Revo shafts to put in my Tweaked TXT and they are easier to put on than you think!!!! You can buy complete Revo shafts for $12 for each shaft P/N 5451. note in the pic below the axle that is on the Revo shaft. Top shaft is a 2.5 shaft, bottom is a Revo shaft. Remove the pin shown by the green arrow and remove the axle. Now tap one of the cross pin holes so you can thread in the extended setscrew pin that goes through the shaft and axle. This side of the Revo shaft is a *direct* fit on the tranny side of the TXT. You *will* have to dremel the tranny case to be as wide as a 2.5 shaft. Since this end of the revo shaft yoke is narrowed, it will fit directly on your TXT tranny if you already have done the 2.5 shaft mod. The other side of the Revo shaft fits directly on the axle end of your TXT (this end is considerably thicker than the tranny end). Now you "could" use a 2.5 yoke and a Revo shaft, *but* you will have to add some washers to the cross pins in the yoke to take up the slack. The Revo yokes are a few mm thicker than the 2.5 shafts and there will be slop in the cross pins of you don't shim them up. IMO, too much hassle and defeats the purpose of using the thicker Revo yokes. since these shafts are nylon, they are rather easy to cut to use in a shortened wheelbase truck like my Tweaked TXT-1. Here is a pic of the rear shaft in my TXT. I only replaced the rear shaft for now since this was the one I broke most often when using the 2.5 shafts. Prior to seeing his post, I had ordered the 5451s in hopes that they'd work like Jay described...Jay's post is proof that they do! I currently have them installed like this in the Scorpion. |

Good find Jason! Yours look shortened? Any special trick to that if they are? From the picture up above a 15 inch wheelbase isn't enough if you aren't going to shorten them. Though they look perfect at the stock length if the tranny was flipped upside down...! |

I shortened them about 1/2" (I think) and my wheelbase is at 14"

IMO 15-15.5"WB is ideal in most situations.

My appologies, I dont have the TXT trans case so I was just slipping the Revo sliders on the output shaft. Since Jason posted that thread there...now I know too! |

I don't want to be too long. One of the things I like about this hobby is the scale realism. But we'll see how it come sout. I am planning to use the stock TXT links. But move them apart on the chassis lengthening the WB. So there you have it. By the way I made a new skid plate tonight at work but am not happy with it. I made it the way I want it but then it didn't quite fit. Now, it fits but isn't the way i want it. So it's up for grabs. Though it's too wide for an uncut chassis. Though my skid for the stock chassis is available as well. PM me if you want one of them. You pay shipping that's all, unless local. |
