Default maxx or other tranny?

how hard would it be to put a maxx or pede or other tranny in a TXT?
I might be getting(for a buddy) a TXT without a tranny and would like to know what he should do - drop in one of the above trannys(if it aint too hard) , or just find a TXT tranny?

thanks for the info in advance

i really like the txt tranny, but you could use a stampede tranny, and mount it directly to the skidplate, taht would be pretty awesome, and the CGs would be LOW!!!!!

Im using an emaxx trans and its runs great, well ran great before i took it apart to rebuild it. the only probs are making mounts/linkage to activate the 2nd speed drive assembly. so far i have the traxxas idler/top shafts with aluminum gears for lighter weights and shooting for a low i mean a very low granny first gear type for first gear mud/rock crawling engagementss... I still havent figured out the ratio though of the trans/tx axles... and how low would it be if i shoot for 8 tooth pinions.... :? One other reason i like traxxas is thay they still make parts for discontinused cars/trucks (well most models) so ifi ever bust a gear later on ill just order up a replacement.

The Stampede has a three gear tranny. It has a steel top gear, a plastic idler gear (that can be upgraded to aluminum), and a plastic diff gear. It uses a planetary style differential, with steel gears, that can easily be locked. It uses six 5x11 ball bearings. The gear ratio is 2.72. The largest 48 pitch spur gear that you can fit on it is a 93 toother.
