I have a thin plastic skip plate over the bottom of the tranny.
I also used two of the cross supports and put them on either side of the tranny.
Definately helps the truck slide over some stuff.

You can see the relocated cross supports in the picture, they're on the left.
You can click the pic to make it bigger.

Cons:
Cost money, unless you make em
Adds weight, but that can be good
Reduced clearance
Pros:
Save that plastic!
Adds weight low on vehicle
Can aid slideing over obstacle

I use three homemade skids on my TXT. Only cost me my labor. I'm sure I would have cracked open my plastic diff by now without skids.

I use my front skid as half a servo mount.

And my rear skid for steering protection.

I have my diff resting on the skid so I'm only losing the thickness of the skid plate in clearance. I also use lead weights that sit on top of skid between the diff housing and the axle support to help counter my hi CoG.

Short answer, not at the angle in which they dangle. Needs some tweakery.

Skids can be useful, but I have not really seen any ill effects from not running any skids. I might add a center so I have a flat bottom instead of an inverted V, but it really hasn't held me up or slowed me down. And NO, the tranny does not scrap. It is up high enough and has supports that will drag before it will.

To prevent that I made my servo mounting plate come out a litte past the servo itself. Not that it would matter seeing as I run HiTec's AL arm.
