Talking 1:4 gear ratio Jugg axle

i use a 12t pinion and a 40t gear modul1
changes the gear ratio from 1:2 to 1:4 and saves some weight , about 65g
hope it works

That's cool!

I've read about folks running Stampede trannies with TXT axles needing lower gearing...... this could be the hot set-up for them. ;)

Where can this 40t gear module be purchased?

Also, if your gear configuration is as you typed, a 12t pinion and a 40t module would only result in a 3.3:1 gear ratio.

40/12 = 3.33 ~ 3.3:1

dont forget the 15t and the 18t bevel gears
3.333*1.2 should be 3.99999999999 or 4

Very cool deal! Makes me wonder why Tamiya didn't go with steeper gearing in the axles to begin with.... Anyhow, the 40tooth gear looks to be some sort of plastic. If so, are you concerned about durability? Please keep us posted!

Did you know I HATE you? That's exactly the kind of clean rockbuggy I was dreaming of! Now, would you be so kind to sent it here just ASAP ?

J/K, ok I really like it, clean no-nonsense design.
Have fun with it at Lanzarote, and remember we will be in trepidating waiting for the gears mod!

Ok , pretty please can we have some part #'s on the 4:1 gears ? We don't care if they have been tested or not. Better to get sevral rigs out there testing them I say.

after 20 hours
no wear on the gears

smooth low noise running and a minimum of torque twisting

dont know where you can get the parts in the US
a modul 1 12T pinion for 5mm shaft
and a modul 1 40T spur gear

some action pics
