I've got a TXT on the way. Gonna steal the 3013 and Mamba out of my BB-51, just picked up a set of Maxx Mashers today.

Its pretty cool outside, but keep an eye on the mamba 25 heat. The larger vehicle will put some hurt on it if the batteries will feed enough juice.

Think a Quark 33 is up to it? Or should I just go all the way up to a Max?

Cory, do you use weights in the wheels, or just foams? Forgive my n00bish questions

Quark 33 would work as well as the mamba 25. I havent seen any real differences in how they perform.

It depends on the batteries you are going to use. 9 cells sub C would warrant the mamba max. Anything 2/3a isnt going to give enough amperage to strain the controller near as hard.

Default Sweet TXT

Hey EeePee

I love your TXT. I just bought one and I am probably going to build it similar to yours (eventually). I was wondering about your maximizer wheels. Are they the basic wheels or do they have a special adaptor to work on the TXT. I don't know much about the TXT yet, so I'm sorry if I sound like a newb, because I am.

Hey thanks man. I use either Thunder Tech Maxx wheel adapters, or Heydco adapters. After using both for some time now, I'd say definately go with the Heydco, as they are metal, and he's also a vendor on our site.

The stickied basic TXT build thread up top in this forum has a bunch of different wheel combos to look at.

Eeepee,
What is the width of the adaptors that you are using?
Width of adaptor itself.
I have found some Junfac adaptors that I will installing on TXT axles.
I am planning on a 14" build also.
Thank you for all of info on TXT's
Your truck is awesome!

Hey Dave,

I'm using Heydco adapters, a vendor here, and they add 3/4 of an inch to each side.

Thanks.

I've got some of Bender's 23mm adapters coming, and my wheels have 1/2 inch of offset.

IMO you have to have 4ws on a 14'r. I ran mine a couple times with just the front steering and it was terrible. Im running narrowed maximizer wheels, maxx mashers, and thundertech adapters with clod stub axles, pretty much the same as EeePee i believe.

Do you think standard 4ws will be fine? without crab and Indy rear steer? Only cause I have not got my hands on a tq3 with that mod .:-( I was thinking maybe running 12mm to 17mm and running 1/8scale buggy tires. That should increase my turning radius right?

I have indy rear steer. It is super easy to do the tq3 mod. It took me about 15 minutes, and im no electrical genius. I have found that the main problem with the steering on all crawlers is that the truck is trying to "push" forward instead of turning, since you have locked front and rear axles. My txt seemed to do this alot worse than my 2.2, probably due to the longer WB, but the rear steer helped immensely. There isnt alot you can do to increase the turning radius on a txt, as the knuckles have weird arms that go straight when you are at full lock. The steering knuckles could definitely be redesigned to get a bit more angle out of them.

Yup, independent rear steer via a DPDT center off switch on my TQ3 radio. The switch is found at radio shack for about $3. There are lots of threads on how to do it

Aluminum knuckles will let you gain a little more steering angle. I just picked up some from Inetrc. Now I have maxxed out the wheelaxles without the arms hitting. Time for CVD's for more steering I might even have to grind the arms alittle after the CVD's.

I have GPM aluminum knuckles on the front and found they do add a little bit of steering but not much, maybe the inet are built differently?
