It'll probably twist it like a licorice stick.

I was using a GD600 with a 19 turn and it twisted them all the time. I'd either go with Revo's, or the aluminum maxx shafts. Either way, don't just put them on there. Have a male on each end, with a long female in the middle connecting them. Or, go with the RC4wd punisher shafts. Have fun getting those though.

you don't need to tell me about how hard it is to get the punisher shafts.I've been waiting for them since time began, or around there it seems.
any way what is this about aluminum maxx shafts?
any links would be helpful.

Can't help ya there. I'm probably gonna use them, but I haven't come to that part of my project yet, so I really don't know where to get them. I've seen them in a few trucks around the net though. IF RC4wd would step up their service, I'd buy a LOT more stuff. But that's off topic.

I ordered a pair of punnisher shafts 6 months 3 days ago . got sick of waiting for them after 3 months and ordered a pair of revos of ebay, got them a couple of days later, few simple mods and they've been goin strong ever since and their cheap. rc4wd keeps giving empty promises.

Default update: I actually drove the bad luck truck.

the little rockpile in my backyard

posing on jump of the offroad track

catching air on jump

coming down crawling trail on side of house

going up crawler trail

this was the first time I drove this truck as a crawler
pushed it pretty hard and found a few problems that were
easy fixes, one was the steering fixed with ca glue,
the other was the plastic was not holding the screw that holds the front four bar. fixed with a longer screw that goes through the plastic and put a nut on it. The maxx drive shafts are holding up with no problem so far. because of the warnings of them twisting or breaking. I made them as strong as possible. by putting male shafts on the tranny and the axle. and long enough that they almost touch at their closest. then sheathing them with female ,ca glued over the male shaft. and max overlap of the sliding parts.

I like it a lot. good for crawling and plenty fast too.
but I do have one small problem. As most of you know the GD-600 reverses the direction. what I found out is that the Novak sensor based motors can not be reversed. I like the motor in front for weight issues, so I don't want to spin the tranny around.
My question is can the axles be made to spin reverse by flipping the differentials?

Man this truck is soooo fun to drive. I' m beating the hell out of her and she's taking it in stride.
THe drive shafts are twisting only a little bit with no ill affects on performance. there is only about a 1/2 inch or less section exposed to twist. I will make a few spares for the future though. Actually rc4wd is coming through with the punishers so I'm stoked either way.

One modification i made right away was to mount the shocks vertical over the axle to reduce torque twist which was pretty bad. now it is a lot better.

to answer my own question. NO
I opened the axle housings, and peered inside. there is no way to reverse the differentiaL. So I now have the motor mounted in the back.
While i had the axle housings open i stuck a bunch of lead in there.
right now I'm working on a protective roll cage for the motor since it looks vulnerable in the bed of the pickup.

O.K. I got a pair of batteries from Maxamps for this rig.
two 6000 mamp 7.4 volt lipo's. add them to a novak HV-maxx, install in TXT, viola, rockracer.

I have twisted the maxx driveshafts to failure. rebuilt the shaft with tighter tollerances. did not twist new shaft but now starting to strip spur in tranny.(clicking sound in torquey situations, getting worse) I will break open tranny to find out exactly what is going on.
so untill next time GOOD CRAWLING.

it's good. i can crawl real slow to creep over things without breaking the tire's traction. and top speed is (i guesstimate) 12-15 mph . but it is all torque. I just stripped some teeth off of two gears in the tranny. it is cool that the txt kit came with an extra set of gears, so it was an easy fix, but i will now have to order an extra set for the future.
It is definately a rock RACER or a monster truck I like jumping it. That is probably why it is always broken.

Default watch this

TXT Rock Racer

Click on the link to see "The bad Luck Truck" in action.

Of course broke something again. At least the maxx shafts are cheap and easy to replace. and the clicking noise is because the Gd-600's spur gear is missing 5 or 6 teeth. But it works fine.
