GD redux: 3.8:1 (12t 48p pinion on motor) Output shaft pinion: tranny ratio: final redux: 14t 36.4 138.3 Taken from the sticked post, 12t on the motor and a 14t coming off the reduction unit. Its pretty slow, but it doesn't stall |

I got these rims so I could run knuckle packs, which I will be doing soon. And I will hold on to the giant trac wheels :-P Here is the skinny shot, 13 inches outside to outside. and a couple other shots. |

I used the Junfac adapters from the crawler store, they were only $6 for the set |

Man, I need to build me a new chassis, and seeing a shaft-driven stick chassis has got me thinkin' now. You can really see the twist in the main frame rail in that articulation pose shot. How easy is it to twist it that far? It has good "memory", or springs back to it's original shape? Is that 6061 or 7005? The only problem I could envision would be lack of damping in the "return stroke". The metal will also fatigue over x amount of cycles, but that would not be a factor at this scale IMO, other than it maybe getting a little softer over time. Which may be either good or bad. If it does break, it sure looks easy to fabricate a replacement. Those test pics say it all - The ability of the stick types to climb near vertical faces w/ sharp breaks at the top is just incredible. I am.... But right now its torn down for a rebuild, going back to quarter scale servos. I just have not had time to finish the new axle brackets. It took second place in our club last season. It works very well, and now it has dig as well. The break over angle is pretty much the same as a torsion clod with my setup. |

Gday EtypeR I RECENTLY made up a torsion stick like yours but found i had to lower the gear box down to 4 1/2 " and also had to add alot of weight to get the thing walk without lifting wheels . But i havent tryed it properly yet . I think my standard shafts with extensions need to to go and in stall some revo shafts . Any other ideas would be appreciated .

Revo shafts are a must, as is weight. I run a decent amount of weight on my rims and axles. I might be able to get it running again next month. |

Finally got around to rebuilding this rig... All new axle mounts, solid steel. Quarter scale servos front and back, though I plan on changing them to a set with metal gears. Testing the new RC4WD V2 tranny, so we will see how that holds up in the world of supers with a Hyperion 3025. Here are a few pics... Should have more tomorrow, on the rocks. Here is my new trick mounting setup for the backbone, much more secure then my previous setup. The underside Makes a can of coke look small... Over 6 inches of ground clearance under the tranny skid plate, the break over angle on this rig is pretty impressive for a shaft rig. A little flex shot, this one still needs to be broken in, and I need to add a little more weight before I run it. Quarter scale servos front and back... I am upset that I orded the ones with plastic gears again, but for some reason the metal gear servos have half the power. Ohh well, metal gears will be going in before next season. |

Only running 6... Going to up it to 8 at some point. Took first place at our comp yesterday.... It was sprinkling on and off through out the morning, the rocks were pretty slick. So the courses were not as challanging as normal, though even small hills provided more of a challange then normal. These pics are of the second course, which my battery died on towards the end.... I was having issues with the reciver pack not working with the dual quarter scales, so I ended up running them off the mamba max BEC. I think this drained my battery to quickly, so I might be running a older 3300 6 cell pack on my rear knuckles as a reciever pack. I could use a little more weight on the truck anyways. My jugg still loves steep drops... No pics of it going down though. New back bone still needs to be broken in.... Not to flexy yet. The break over angle is pretty impressive for a shafty... |

Damn! that thing looks evne better than the previous set up! I like the long shaft on the front side, now you realy have a Killer brakeover angle Good job on this! Still running the cheap Junfac adapters? |

Those junfac adpaters are junk..... I have rc4wd wideners now, only reason I am running wideners is so I can run the knuckle packs from Run2Jeep. I really like to keep my rigs as skinny as possible. actually I have thought about ditching the wideners in the back, so I can clear the gates on the way out easier.

just out of curiosity how is the angle of your front shaft, it looks somewhat steep in the pictures but i could be wrong. And obviously this is an amazing rig, how well does it flex the way you attached the tranny skid to the backbone? Well done bro!

The revo shafts can run at pretty step angles, and the rear shaft is at a steeper angle then the front. But it works just fine. I have the tranny offset towards the back to help with break over, this helps my rear tires catch the rock on steep ledges. As for flex, with a new backbone it still needs to be broken in. |
