| Super radical Tamiya TXT build thread
Hey Guys! This is my first thread on this site. I must say I am glad to be here! Anyway, I am posting pics of my TXT build. This truck is running an AXI outrunner (515 KV) on 8S lithium through a custom made carbon fiber belt drive transfer case. The chassis is all custom made (CNC cut. I own a small machine shop). It has 5 inches of travel with 10 inches of articulation. This is not primarrily a crawler. It is more of a play truck that can do some decent crawling. It has over 1000 watts of power. Anyway, it will be topped with a MIG welded 5/32 piano wire roll cage. So, what the heck! How do I post pics? The option below on this page says I cannot post attachments. I would like to post pics of this thing. Matt |

You can post pics a couple different ways. Star holding members can attach pics directly to their posts. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/payments.php You can also use www.imageshack.us and have them host the pics for you. |

Man, I really wish I could post a picture. The "Tamiya-saurus-Rex" is done! I have the roll cage done and am looking into aluminum axle housings. My CNC guy (Dave) and I met together today and he is excited about the project. I told him I have $500 to throw at this to cover 3D modelling and prototyping of the first set of JPS style aluminum housings for the beast. If all goes well, I will market the housings. Anyone have a gallery I could email a picture to so we can all see it? Let me know. Matt shumaker@owc.net |

OK, There is so much involved with this truck that more pics are needed to see more things. But I am thinking his design has potential. Thing's I would try to change, get the steering servo out from danger, Try to get that CG lower. That is all. Good luck. |

Thanks alot for the picture posting for me. The steering servo is mounted to the front axle housing with a 3mm thick CF plate. I will be extending the plate further bak to protect the servo case. The CG can go a little lower by mounting the packs longtudinally rather than vertically. The motor, however is stuck where it is at. This is not a dedicated crawler. So, it works great as is. However, a lower CG is always a good thing. The truck can be dropped a bit too. The suspension travel is so far that the roll cage has to be that high. The truck is sitting with 2 inches of sag right now. It handles fantastic! It crawls far and away better than stock, but I do see room for improvement there. Any crawling improvement I make beyond what it is now will take away from its overall capability, though. So, we will have to see how it goes. Matt |

O.K, here are my two cents you do not need that much travel bring the shocks towards the axles amd lower the truck, |

Looks...interesting, looks like you have a lot of time in it. Not to be a dick, but I think this should be moved to Chit-Chat. This is not a crawler, scaler, or even a trail truck. |

The packs (two lipo packs) are mounted low. So, it is more stable than it looks. But, yes, it has flipped a couple times. ;) I posted this thread here because there didn't seem to be a better place for it. The chassis and suspension was designed much more closely to that of a crawler than a typical monster truck. So, I posted it here. I figured someone would ask why it was here. Honestly, this is the best site for TXT stuff I have found. I wanted it here to get advice from those who are familiar with the TXT. Matt |

I'd have less articulation, so you can lower the cage. Looks cool. 8-)
