Default GD600 Gearing alternative?

I am currently running a GD600 with a 12 tooth pinion mated to a 45T Lathe.
I get good run times, and pretty decent torque and wheelspeed.
Overall I am pretty happy with this setup.

The main thing I dont like about the GD is that is so LOUD.
I think the noise it is making is normal it is just loud.

Could I maybe run a 65T Lathe with a 9 tooth pinion and no GD - and get similar gearing to my current setup?

Any other ideas?
I can deal with the noise, but im just running through some different setups in my head.

Thanks

I wouldnt use grease it will attract dirt. use bar soap or grab a small piece of lexan grease the GD and use the lexan to wrap around the GD to make it look like a clear case.hot glue it on there or use sillicone and voila. It could also be your spur to pinion distance it might be too close or your gears are wearing out.

I've tried everything. The 65 turn will stall more than your current set up. I still think you should try it out though.

Well I went ahead and put the 9 tooth pinion on the 45T Lathe, and took off the GD600.
I thought I would try it since I already had all of the parts.
It will definately clean the tires now
It is way faster - but still seems to have a bit torque to it.
I havent gotten to try it out except in the living room - so some real world testing is in order.

try part number gpmg0852 15 tooth pinion it will give you 3.0:1 on your GD-600 and take duck tape put about 2 or 3 layers around the unit it will keep the noise down . also use the soap and check your lash . oh yes with a 12 tooth you are running 3.8:1 also the stock 18 tooth will give you 2.5:1
