OK I see now. So it pushes this gear away from the pinion and locks the gear at the same time.

Looks like a great idea.

Do you think there will be any problem with the splined shaft over time stripping out?

How smoothly does it engage and disengage?

If you do the mod the way I did the splined should be fine. The bevel gear is always splined to the shaft.

It depends on how smooth your servo is and on if your axle is under a load when you disengage it. If it is under a load you mite get a clik from the diff once you hit the throttle. The clik is the arm locking in the teeth of the bevel gear.

Ahhhh! I get it now. So the bevel gears are the only thing disengaging then. It just slides back and fourth over the splines.

And I don't mean to take away any credit, because honestly, it really is sweet.

It really should get sticky..... It's a great mod that looks stock. Is this instead of rear steer or in addition to rear steer? If it is instead then how well does it do compared to rear steer?

it give you differnt options. that rear steer does not give you. its all a give and take.
unless you run a 6 channel radio then you have both front and rear dig and front and rear steering........

IMO this should be done to both front and rear axles with front and rear steer.
Thats how my truck is.
