RCCrawler supporter now and my new TXT.
 

Well guys i would just like to thank everyone on this site for making it such a great place. I have been browsing the site for the past month trying to decide what i wanted and i decided to buy a TXT. I just got it off ebay. Here is a picture of it just as i received it.

Has upgrades on it for more bling but not so much for making it a more capable rock crawler. Has high torque servo, aluminum rims with k rock tires, Xtreme carbon fiber chassis plates and both carbon top plates. and it came with a Super Rooster. So it is a good start.

The minute i got it i already opened the diffs and filled them with JB weld. Second i went and bought two new Revo shafts and extended the wheelbase from the stock 13" to now it is right about 15". My GD 600 and Lathe motor will be here towmorrow. My next step is to relocate the servo like everyone has talked about and to chop up the beautiful carbon fiber chassis and take about an 1" off the bottom and mount the tranny higher. As well as relocate my links. I have looked at everyone pics and suggestions on this site and trying to build an aswome crawler. I have already change the wheels and tires over to jumbo swamp dawgs which i had already. I haven't done any narrowing of them yet though.

anyhow i just thought i would say hi and will post more pics of my rig as i start building it up. I just paid and became a supporter of the site tonight and am really looking forward to talking with everyone. thanks David

Welcome to the board, it is a great place. And the TXT is a great truck.
You seem to have a clue as to what you "need" to do, so have fun.
If you apply one theory to your design, make it "Lower is better."
It makes a big difference.

well here is the latest photos. This is after two nights of working on it. These are pictures of the stretched wheel base, and the new awsome suspension travel. I took a close of also on how i mounted the Revo shafts.


To mount the revo shafts i took off both ends of the revo shafts and pulled out my dremel and took off around 1/16th or less on each side of the silver swivel piece that holds the pins. that way they would slide into the stock metal yokes off of the txt. it worked real nice. the plastic yokes on the revo shafts i couldn't get them to stay on the transmissions after tigtening them down with the set screws.

After taking off the factory sways bars and extending the wheel base i had a ton of chassis sway back and forth when i tried to drive it. So i replaced the shock oil with 40 wt and added the blue emaxxtmaxx heavy duty springs and that helped a bunch.

My next step is going to gear it down and cut the chassis and relocate the trans and links. Well let me know what you guys think. Am i heading in the right direction. Thanks david

Can you link the big pictures instead of the thumbnails?

He can't because the max size allowed of pictures is 800x600. He would have to resize them.

Xtreme rc, looks like a good start. You have more then enough threads and photos on this site to fix your TXT up real nice for crawling.

Did you have to mill any of the transmission away to fit the revo shafts?

If you look closely some how the TXT yokes are still there. at least the tranny one the axle yoke looks like a steel stampede yoke.

With my mod on the revo shaft i did not have to touch the tranny. I will post some close ups of how i did it later tonight.

Thanks, being a complete noob, I have just ordered an extreme carbon chassis. I did get some 2.5 slider shafts but found that I had to cut away the transmission and I dont really want to do that. So any mod that allows me to lengthen the wheelbase whitout touching/cutting anything to make it work would definately be apreciated :-P

OK here are some pics i borrowed from this site and modified a little to show you what i did. Hope that was ok. Here are the pics and then i will try and explain again.

Ok on the TXT shaft the only thing you will need is the two yokes and small pins with e clips that are on each end of the shaft. Pop off one of the e clips and slide out the pin and take the yoke off the shaft. Do this to the other side. Now you should have the two yokes and the two pins with the eclips.

Ok now for the revo shafts. On one end of the revo shaft pop off one of the e clips and slide the pin out and take the yoke off. You will not need that pin or yoke. Do the that same on the other end.

Ok now that you have the pin and yoke off the revo shaft you now need to slide the fatter pin out to get the CSP (chrome square piece) off the revo shaft. Keep these you will reuse them. Ok now on the CSP you will need to dremel just a little bit off of two sides of it. The sides that you will dremel is the side that you slide the smaller pin out of that had the eclips on. It is the smaller diameter hole. You will need to dremel off alittle on both sides evenly so the TXT yoke will slide onto the CSP. Once you are able to slide the TXT yoke onto the CSP then take the pin and eclip for the TXT axle and slide it back through and attach the eclip. Now you have the TXT yokes on each end of the Revo shaft.

Now you can bolt the shaft on your TXT without making any modifications. I hope these directions are clear enough for everyone. thanks

BTW any idea what rims it had on it at first?

I honestly don't know who makes them. They are a aluminum. and they are a normal offset and they are made for a emaxx/tmaxx. My txt has thunder tech hub adapters for tmaxx rims. They are machined very nicely. I just wish they were offset and i would use them maybe. Luckly the krock tires were never glued to the rims. So i could sell them seperately.

nice truck man i got to see this thing work today it has some mad flex .All you need now is servo mounts and some more ground clearance and it will be super nice and almost unstopable.

Thanks! Man it was awsome crawling at the Green River yesterday. Definitely worth the drive. That was the first time i have really ever been crawling on some serious rocks. Within the first 5 minutes of it being on the ground i could see 10 things i needed to fix immediately.

Today i relocated the servos and got rid of the big skidplates. tomorrow night i'm cutting the chassis, raising the trans and putting the bottom links on top of the axles. MY moab's will be here tuesday. I will post some new pics once i narrow the rims and get the tires mounted.

Well i got the chassis cut and moved my transmission up and got my links relocated above the axle. Cutting that carbon fiber is extremely easy and easy to sand the edges to smooth them out. I adjusted the links to try and make sure nothing would bind up and keep the revo shafts and links straight. If anyone see a problem anywhere please let me know.

I also made me a servo mount tonight. that cirrus serco is a little longer than the hitecs so i had to mount if vertical rather than on its side like most people do. My mounts were pretty easy to make. I just need to paint the aluminum pieces blk i think. anyhow here are the latest pics.

well here are the latest pics of my build. Got rims narrowed and my moabs mounted. They are just tacked until i decide to run foams or not. I also got my body lowered and mounted. Haven't decided what color to paint it. Well all i have left to do know is work on my servo mounts front and rear. Going to change them around a little more. these tires are awsome. grip awsome

It is called the parma 1/10th Chevy offroad truck body. It is a chevy blazer it says on the tag. I'm not much on chevys but there aren't alot of choices out there of course for crawlers and everyone seems to run a jeep body so i wanted to try and find something a little different.

yeah i wish i went ahead and came today but the weather sucked here today, so i just couldn't get motivated to get out of the house. I had some fun in the garage today though. well cya soon.
