Emaxx tranny into txt

Howdy, been a while since i've been on, but i've got a new project and a new question.

Got myself a txt and i love it, i've heard about people fitting e-maxx transmissions into them to make it a 2 speed, anyone here done this or know of someone who has?

Basically i'm looking to see how much bother it is to do and if it is accually possible without doing major hacking of the origional chassis.

Any info would be great, thanks!

Curt,

It is too easy to change over, but most guys lock the Maxx tranny in one or the other gear. There are mounts available here...

There is also parts to modify the Maxx tranny case to loose the extra gears and save weight and space...

I was going to go this way, but I never heard anything bad about the TXT tranny. I cut mine down for one motor and cut off the mounting tabs to narrow it down to 3" wide. I also installed a GD-600 gear reduction unit. I will have some pictures on my site soon.

I have one in one of my TXT's, I just cut up some aluminum angle and drilled some holes, real easy! If u need some pics LMK, and I'll hook u up!

Some pics would be great!

Are you able to buy a e-maxx transmission in one piece or is it a case of buying parts bags?

I want to do the same thing to my TXT. I wanted my tranny to shift though. What do you have to do for that?

The EMAXX tranny is a tab bigger and mottors are taller (higher CG) when the trans is mounted in the traditional fashion.
I chose to lay my tranny flat with the motor and tranny output right on the skid.

I am currently running an emaxx trans that shifts. I made my own reduction for on it as well. I bought the truck with the kit for trans. I have raised the trans and lowered the chassis. Gave me more ground clearance that way.

I like the idea of mount the servo to the side of chassis. I thought about that myself. I have a few more things I want to do to mine. I think i have a few pics around. If I find them I will post them. May show off my noob skilss though.

I have a 2 speed in mine, but it uses the Thunder Tech kit which includes the plate to to mount the shifting servo.

I am running that thunder kit as well. I kind of like the servo to the chassis more.

Let us know how it turns out. i was going to do this to my TXT too. I figured I'd throw a Emaxx tranny in it when the stock tranny blew, it's been six months now and Brushless and I'm beginning to believe the TXT tranny is almost bulletproof.
