Return of the Shafty

Well I happened to pick up the start to my new comp truck at this last comp.

They are now locked and ready for the clod to be parted out this winter to scavenge the CVD's.

Done yet?

Welcome Back "thumbsup"

I am undecided yet on whether to do a tuber or a bodied build here. I am leaning towards the tuber side.

jeepster26104 10-12-2007 10:44 PM

I am going to go with badlands on these for now.

I have a chassis. I will post some pics of it after the tranny shows.

Bad *** Billy!

How long you going with the whizzlebase?

jeepster26104 10-12-2007 10:58 PM

13-63/64" of course.

EeePee 10-12-2007 11:01 PM

That's as tight a tolerance as you're going?

I got mine spec'd out to 127/128ths.

jeepster26104 10-12-2007 11:03 PM

You do what you have to do.

I am looking forward to this build. Seems like a fun one already.

I'm using your wife's calipers.

The same ones she used when she said you came up short.

:flipoff:

The job is done here.

jeepster26104 10-12-2007 11:34 PM

As soon as TCS gets some cvd's back in stock I will have them on the way.

EeePee 10-12-2007 11:38 PM

I'm thinking CVDs and JPs cool battery cutout knuckles.

But don't tell anyone. Especially Dieselfuel. Or Jeepster26104.

dieselfuel 10-13-2007 12:21 AM

ive got CVDs in mine... you need to get the same CVD specific knuckles as the clod guys do. with stock knuckles you need to remove the inner bearing in the knuckle...

jeepster26104 10-13-2007 11:17 AM

Remove a bearing from the knuckle? That is bad news in my book. I will be going to an aftermarket for sure if that is the case.

Please do tell me some more about these rims!!

jeepster26104 10-13-2007 05:46 PM

I made these suckers about 3 years ago or more. Shortly after, 40 series was the way to go. Now they seem to be back on the list for a shorter truck.

jeepster26104 10-14-2007 07:54 PM

The wheels are standard maxx dia. but narrowed alot. I am hoping they will work good with badlands.

Racer4Life 10-14-2007 08:32 PM

Good Start!;-)

jeepster26104 10-15-2007 08:05 PM

Wheels and tires done. I picked up my Badlands today. The narrower width is perfect for this wheel. I am not sure about the foams. They seem a bit firm.
