14" spider wannabeeeeee

Decided to finnaly use the TXT axles and build a trail rig (txt=the new scale)

Loaded with CVD's and straight axles, alum knuckles, e-max trans, going to run the new 40 series mud slingers. Bruiser style frame as the base and a bunch of tube work. Not sure on esc yet, specrum radio gear and 3 cell lipo with a astroflight truck racing 6 turn motor. Setting it up for droop

Progress so far.....

Thats it for tonight, tommorrrow will be working out all the shock mounts and crossbracing/supports

You will need some downtravel running that motor, I bet you will use more wheelspeed than expected. ;) With the heavy weight you could set it up with 70% compression, 30% droop and have it ride at 50% compression.

hotwheels000 10-20-2007 12:16 AM

Thanks for the tips JRH, I had already decided to do a 70/30 set up after seeing the size comparison of the 40 mudslingers, for clearance reasons

Are you suggesting the travel due to the speeds it will be capable of or due to the added torque those motors have ?? I was thinking some sprung travel would be good for a basher:)

I aslo intend on using dual rate spring packs..i think:idea:

JohnRobHolmes 10-20-2007 12:20 AM

I was thinking more for speeds that you will be hitting. You could even do full compression setups and just have the weight settle the rig with lots of compression (dual springs like you are thinking). The only downfall to having shocks with a lot of preload to them is that it might try to unload on a climb. Only way to figure that out is testing. What I do on my bashers with longtravel is to put a small spring on the inside for shock compression, then use normal springs on the outside to push the shock extended. It lets the rig sit lower but still allows full droop when the belly is dragging.

nice rig man:)

hotwheels000 10-20-2007 10:16 PM

Its a roller, lots left to do but it sits there all on its own:)

Found some scale interior pieces that I will be adding along with a recaro seat and diamond plate tool box

Changed the plans again...

With the bruiser frame(knock off) the links were all wrong and it had a drastic wheel base change....so I ditched the frame for another day and rebuilt the lower half of the tuber. It is using true trianglated links which helps eliminate some of the sway and it now has a minimal wheelbase change during the cyling of the suspension
On to the pics

I still have a lot to do but its getting closer

hotwheels000 11-04-2007 01:49 AM

Its a runner ,time to tune, prep and paint:) O and add the dig cuase this sucker dont turn with a darn:-(

crawl rookie 11-04-2007 04:14 AM

Are you going to run those tires:shock:
i think they are on the big side for a 14r why not use maxx sized swamp dawgs?

dieselfuel 11-04-2007 02:32 PM

we want pics damnit!!

Reflection 11-04-2007 03:19 PM

I do agree they are a bit big for a 14" scaler. Cool looking though. I think they'd be a bit more scale for say a 17-18" wheelbase.

hotwheels000 11-04-2007 06:40 PM

Yeah I an running those tires, I have the max swammpers also from the dibbler tuber but they (txt axles) get hung up on every thing. I look at this as a trail rig just for bashing, Its 1/8 th scale so that is a 56 inch tall tire..There isnt a curb in town that will slow me down:)

Paint will be true fire and pics posted when that is done....

Tanis 11-04-2007 07:19 PM

It's going to have to be a pretty big curb alright, Dev. I like it, should be sick in the mud/dirt/snow.8)"thumbsup"
