You need to post more info as to what you have in the truck, I do not remember but I think you are just running one motor right? Which motor is it? What type of batteries? What type of connectors?

I have never heard of a reciever getting hot. And for the ESC I don't know how a hot a rooster get with just running one motor. I had to put a fan one my rooster when I was running two motors.

Are you sure you have everything wired correctly? I know that a poor connection between the battery and the ESC can cause a load on your electronics which can cause heat.

You could be running the motors in reverse. This will cause poor run time and things to heat up tremendously. check the wiring, etc.

Well I' changed the motor and all is good. I also got the steering links done finally and the crawlbox is in as well. It works great for crawling but it's boring otherwise maybe I'll put the 15t pinion back on and see how it works. Thanks for all the info guys I'm stoked to have this thing crawl-able.
