| project: Heavy Metal Hummer
this is my CC01 Hummer HX concept rig. the body is from a fast lane r/c I found at toys r us. I was originally planning on an FJ body but there are already so many of those and I really wanted to try something new. after the cutting of the chassis and mounting the body I'm very happy with the results because this body has awesome approach and departure angles and just plain looks good to me the roof panel/roofrack has been made removable (velcro) because I used hidden screws to mount the body to keep the body clips away I completely removed all of the original inner fenders from the chassis and made all new shock towers and inner fenders so I could run longer shocks for more travel. the electrics are all waterproof and I even used the traxxas waterproof receiver box. I painted the suspension to look like a Fabtech kit with king coil-overs. ( I need some Fabtech stickers if anyone has any so I can do the paintjob I want to do) I'll post more pics with the body off in a few minutes. specs: Tamiya Taoureg chassis fast lane hummer body rc4wd mud thrashers losi crawler wheels Integy 65 T lathe motor r/c channel rear axle and front suspension system rc4wd shocks Last edited by kingcobra; 01-23-2009 at 12:32 AM. |

That what it looks like all done up. The same thoughts went through my head when I saw it. But I was thinking of using the breaks also. Looks good

Fantastic job with your build! I am always the most excited about seeing something new and different. That body looks great on that chassis. What I like best is how clean everything looks. When a custom build literally looks like you bought a kit, then you KNOW you've done a great job. It seriously looks like it came that way out of the box! |

thank you all for the kind words I'm having a lot of fun building this one... the CC01 chassis is so versatile it's silly. I don't like it under a jeep tho... jeeps are supposed to be solid axles at both ends. but FJ's, Hummer's, silverado's and such are great bodys for this chassis. in fact I just ordered a brand new pajero kit for my next project. not sure what I'll do to it yet but it should be interesting plus I have the stock rear axle, links and front suspension left over from where I upgraded this one to the metal parts... that stuff may mean another pre-runner build may be in store for me and this one isn't quite done yet either... so I'm not short on projects at all lol
