Default Street Jeep

this one is going to be pretty basic, almost box stock till i get bored with it. just wanted to share what i have done so far. been putting off painting for a while now. probably do that this week though

did a little lift to the suspension. wasn't much but it looks like i might be able to barely clear the larger size tires.

stock knuckle

stock on the right. modified on the left

after the knuckle has been shaved a little, all that's needed is to back the rod end off of the shock shaft a few turns to lengthen it

and of course it still flexes like a madman

i see, soo after cutting that, it lifts the front? does it also give it alittle more flex, im guessing it would

all its doing is allowing the arm to drop further which in turn will lift the front with stiff enough suspension. it does allow it to move further so i guess you could say it gives it more flex but with the larger tires it probably flexes less. either way its very minimal so i wouldn't call it a flex mod or anything

also remember after you shave the knuckle you will need to back off the rod end of your shock a few turns. otherwise your shock will keep the arm from using its newly acquired room to move

With this mod and the washer mod for the front, I think you could get at least 1/2" more travel ( height) in the front. Nice how to!

unless you upgrade to longer shocks you are still limited to whatever the shocks allow. just by doing this exceeded the stock shock length. but then again i'm sure it wouldn't take but ten mins to drop the shocks down 1/4"

Not really.. You could install Savage 7" long shocks and still be limited to the crappy limits of the upper link and lower arms, not to mention the short limits of axle movement. Too much droop and the axle binds, as with too much forced lift.

We need a wide arm kit to allow more usable suspension travel.

only problem with wider arms is through the cycle they would be way too wide for the body.

For the YJ body, yes if you were to keep the stock mounting locations. If you were to inboard the lower a-arms closer together, you could have longer arms that would allow for more movement.

It seems like you almost need to use a different offset of wheel. Those rear tires are tucked pretty far in. Maybe even the use of wider hexes would help move them out a couple of mm's.
