| Longer driveshaft..Traxxas, but not Slash/Stampede units??
Well, I am working on a longer wheelbase for my CC-01 and decided I need a custom driveshaft....I could get the Touareg stock unit, substitue an AX-10 unit and lengthen the main shaft or, build one from Traxxas parts.... I understand its usually Use a pair of Stampede/Slash units and glue together..... has anyone tried thw LONG #4951X Maxx diff 2 wheel units? The look to be used on a thcker shaft than the Stampede uses, but with a brass sleeve,it should be no big deal.... AND its long enough for a LONG (11"+) wheelbase with no splicing! I am going to my LHS tomorrow for some brass tube to sleeve the output shaft and help center the yokes... I think I might be on to something! |

Yeah, I used one just this week! Here's a picture, and you're right, it would be better with something to center it a little better. It's not bad, but could be better... |

damn! and I really thought I was on to somethign unique here! lol Actually, I have solved the wobble problem..I stopped by my LHS today and picked up 2 sections of aluminum tube. the first slips over the stock tamiya shaft perfectly, the second snugs RIGHT over the first one and it cna be pressed into the traxxas knuckle. I might drill mine with a precise drill bit and then, no rotational pull issues! Pics to follow in a day or so, I closed at work tonite and open tommorow :( |

On my old Touareg I used the two loose u joints out of a jugg kit, and cut a length of piano wire for the shaft. Very strong and never bent.
