| issue w/ cc01 drivetrain
ok i may be kickin myself here but assembled the cc01 jeep i have with the brass bearings as opposed to the plastic ones in the kit. That may e my whole issue. Well while driving it it binds alot and locks up and get the esc and motor(both stock tamiyas) hot. if i pick it up for free wheelin it doesnt bind but seems liek its really workin to get it goin. It will torque twist the back axel till it hits the tub and lock up. do i just need to get a ball bearing kit? or what? ive tried different motors and same affect, but when i remove the motor it seems to spin fine no binding. im using the 16t pinion and am makin sure its in te right holes. opinions? It smells hot and has that burnin smell after use |

Sounds like you got a binding issue with the bushes alright, you need to replace all the bushes with bearings. Bushes wear out real quick and there goes your gears! Cost me $50 but really worth it. |

| www.avidrc.com sells quality bearings for $1 a pop and shipping is very reasonable. bearings are a must in the cc-01 chassis IMO. The stock motor is really too hot for crawling. Start with a 65 turn. good low end and top speed without using a GRU.

check to make sure the trans cover is VERY securely screwed on. if its just a bit not tight to the chassis the gears can jump and get caught up. also check the rear axle gears by manually turning it to feel for binding. |

I had the rear diff screws start coming out on mine. Allowed the rear diff to come apart inside the axle and the screws were rolling around in the axle housing binding up the axle. Also what pantablo said, I accidently left one screw out of the trans cover once and had a gear start jumping bad. |

thanks for all the ideas guys, turns out it was the wheels, the back two were binding against the axle case. filed it down and now no problems, bb kit is on its way too |
