Hi guys, Just wanted to share some pics of the lights I made for my Land Cruiser. Just bought some LED's, and used the battery tray from a cheap LED flashlight, a switch from an old receiver battery, wired it all up and thats it. Hope you guys like it. |

Did you use any resistors? I don't see any, so I'm wondering if each LED is getting 3 x 1.2 volt aa's = 3.6 volts?

| I didnt use any resistors, theyre all directly connected to the battery tray that holds 3 AAA 1.5v batteries (4.5 volts supplying all the lights).

Just an idea but why dont you use a free channel on your RX to power the lights? That way you wont have to have extra batteries to power them and you can use the main battery to power everything. Thats what I did.

| I've tried this aswell, and for some reason I can only get 2 led's working. Can you explain exactly how you wired them? Using resistors or not?

http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/cse095-0022-00.htm For $18.00 you can get this as well. http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/losb9996.htm (I know its 4 white LED's but you can paint the led red or the lense or just add your own red LED's ) Last edited by Grumpster1980; 03-25-2010 at 01:35 PM.

or for 30 you can get this http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/3rac-leds.htm and add a ton of led's beyond what's in the pack. Mine is up to 19 I used to wire LED's like you for years then I got lazy, you can run 2 LED's in series on 6V from a BEC or batteries, an run as many strings of 2 as you have available amps. or use a resistor and a single LED. |

| Yes, that is a good idea, but I really just wanted to keep it as simple as possible without using resistors and the like. |

| Hi sid, I've been using Losi mini rock claws and tamiya rock cruisers. They've been working pretty well so far, specially the losi's, they just dont look too scale though. The rock cruisers, I use them when we go trailing on dirt and concrete.

I'm using a teu-101bk speedo so I dont have the RX BEC slot to spare. But your setup really does seem interesting. Would you have some shots on how you set it up? Thanks.

any slot on the rx will output around 5v, when I originally wired up my light bar I used resisters, but they were dull, I just kept using lower ones to the point were I just tried none, the leds didnt get hot at all, so theyve been running that way for months. Ive had the rest of the lights running off the rx's for 2 years now. bit of a mess, all the light wires just feed into one set of wires that plugs into the rx bind port on my spektrum rx just to make things over complicated, I run it via this toggle switch, So I can turn them on off, then I stuck this micro servo on there to flick the switch for me, so the lights can be turned on and off from the 3rd channel on the transmitter |

just made a loom for my jeep, so I thought I'd share how that went, I wired it up with no resisters and the tail lights blew soon as I plugged it in Out come the multimeter, this esc is putting out 6.10v So I threw some more leds on and chucked in a 1k resister, that sorted the rears out, but now the fronts weren't getting enough power, so moved the 1k resister to just work on the tail lights. and threw a 490ohm on the front to be sure (might pull that off later or reduce it depending how bright it is at night) but there working fine. but yeah these red leds I got need a resister for sure. heres a pic of the loom Last edited by Positronic; 04-01-2010 at 10:34 PM. |
