Default Question about longevity

I read on another thread that the screw threads strip out after a couple or three years of heavy use on these rigs. Part of the reason I am interested in getting one is because of its reputation for durability. I like things that hold up to heavy use.

How big of a problem or how frequent is the thread stripping thing?

My stripped because it was old and I kept taking the thing apart. I suggest you just buy 2 extra chassis if you break your old one. I am still using my original chassis from like 2002 or 2003. I have a few stripped holes and I just drilled right thru and used longer machine screw with nut on the other side. Works good. I have 2 extra chassis sitting in the storage when this one goes bye bye

As long as you keep yours away from savage first graders it should last a lifetime. There is a company though that makes metal aftermarket parts for the CC01 that increases the durability and performance. The company is GPM. Here is the link to the CC01 catalog: http://gpmracing.com.hk/catalog/main...3236b7325d58c9

Ah, GPM. I keep hearing about them and seeing their products put to work.

When I have the money I'll be all over it. Don't like the blue though.

If I keep the thing largely stock save for steering and a low=tech suspension lift, and maybe a metal drive shaft, I should be ok, yes? I wouldn't be doing jumps or any stupid crap like that.

I would say yes to your last question, although I have upgraded everything possible to GPM.

Also check out a company called: RC Channel for alloy upgrades.

I too, have picked up an extra chasis just in case.

Extra chassis...good idea. I'll pick some up too! Yeah I don't like the blue GPM parts. I'd opt for simple silver or a black/gunmetal anodizing.

I got all the GPM parts except the steering parts, dont know why I missed those out. But now I am attempting putting the 4 link rods on, Im stuck, nothing just fits straight on, what is the best way to set it up? any pics of how you did yours? Cheers.

As other people have stated if you look after them and check for stripped threads etc they will last. Just dont overtighten the screws and at worst nut and bolt!

High speed impacts are usually what brakes things but when your crawling or trailing your not gonna have any high speed collisions

Exactly... Just run a longer bolt all the way through and nut it!

As for the 4 link set up question... I discovered how to install mine by just looking for GPM photos in the threads here. Several highly detailed builds have good photos!
