| My CC01
Howdy guys and gals, been browsing the site for a long time, and bought myself a CC01 Land cruiser kit about 3months ago, was great fun building it from scratch and loads of hours of fun once it was finished, started its life standard, with only a wheel change, these really did change the handling of it, heres a pic of what it looked like: Please excuse the quality of the painting, first time id ever done it, and found it quite tricky, but got by in the end. after loads of hours playing i found a range of new parts for the cc01, all on this very site, so thanks for that! it now has: Front and back Diff locked, Permanent 4wd. Suspension links, suspension arms on on the rear HPI 55t Crawler motor with heatsink Fastrax kong wheels and tyres GPM Steering upgrade Receiver/esc Waterproof box, with a fan to bring cool air from the top New bright LR3 body (got from ebay for cheap has a few lil cracks) and here it is today: (a pic with my losi MRC to) Mounted the body via the standard mounts on the rear, and drilled through the top, the scale accesories hide it well, and its not noticable, and the front is done by abit of thredded rod through the chassis, with a nut on the end, works well, but need to cut the rod, so it doesnt stick out as much, also added a few scale parts to make it look the part, need to tidy up the shell a little bit, paint bits and peices, but you get the idea. Would like some different Wheels / Tyres, the ones ive got are good, but always enjoy testing some more! Next upgrades are the Electrics and radio gear, currently using a Acoms 27am radio and receiver, also a acoms servo for the steering, but want to upgrade to a 2.4ghz set up, any recomendations? also using the standard Tamiya ESC which came with the kit, so will be upgrading that also, again any recommendations? what do you guys think of the GPM Shocks and springs? they worth a shot over the plastic tamiya ones? want to make it as robust as i can, Cheers for looking, and any comments recommendations are greatly received. cheers Simon, UK Last edited by Simonez; 12-30-2010 at 06:01 AM. |

I have been using the GPM shocks (70mm front and 90mm rear) and found them to be very reliable. For the 90mm rear it gives great articulation but raises the rear quite a bit so to counter this I reduced the height of the body mounts and with the body on you wouldn't notice it at all (it also gives some really good wheel tuck as well). As for the 2.4, the spektrum units are very good but a bit pricey and I also use the Losi night crawler ESC and found instant reverse to be an awesome feature (lots of wheelies ). I was using the same tyres for quite a while but have now gone to the RC4WD mud thrashers and love them to bits but they would be a bit too big for the LR3 body I think. Did you have to lengthen the wheel base for that body and if so what drive shaft did you use as I am looking to extend my Land Cruiser wheel base to accommodate a utility tray and will most likely get a punisher shaft as I think the stock Tamiya one will not be long enough. Looks great. For electronics I run a Traxxas xl-5 waterproof esc with a couple of motor choices. A axial 27t with HPI GR, and a novak 55t like them both. But the gr on the 27t this thing crawls.
