Default Looks like I'll be joining the CC01 ranks!!!!

Whats up guys! I bought a CC01 roller and it will be headed my way this week. I have got a hitec 645 servo for it, a rooster esc, and a 35t integy.
I really badly want and am looking for a nikko fj cruiser body for it but thats a diiferent story I guess. Was wondering if ya'll have any tips for seeing how I have always dealt with 2.2 scalers and still do. I know nothing about the cc01 so some info and tips would be awsome. I am also gonna try and fit the tallest 1.9 i can fit on it. So all that being said ya'll throw it at me

First off, congratulations on the new purchase and welcome to the world of CC01.

With the tyres go nothing bigger than a 4" and would probably stick to something under this as you will get lots of rub on the front. Must have upgrades are the steering kit offered by GPM as the stock is very sloppy. If you are capable with a dremel cut the front brick off as that thing hinders a lot of climbing ability. Also make sure the rear is locked and the front as well. With locking the front you lose a bit of steering but can climb rocks a lot easier with it locked.

Hope this helps.

Gotcha well the guy I got it from jb welded the front but in a way you can still pull the assembly apart. The rear is locked. And I am very familiar with a dremel. I have done alot of custom work to my 2.2 jk scaler I have. Thanks for the tire info, and do you think it will hold up to a 35t motor and 2s lipo?

35T will probably be too quick. Stock out of the box these come with a 27T and they are way too quick for crawler or even trail runs. I have tried everything from the stock upto a 95T and find the 55T or 60T to be the best motor choice or a GRU with a faster motor to get better torque.

Lol Im used to my 2.2 scaler I run a 35t motor on it and thats plenty of torque and wheel speed I might try a 55t lath motor I have laying around. I dont know why but I have wanted one of these things for a while Im kinda excited cant wait to get it. They just look so freakin cool with a good body!

With the gearing in these you'll want a 55t or maybe even higher I bet. I've got a 55t in mine and its at least twice as fast my Creepers with 55t's. It seems to have a decent amount of torque still, but I might go to a 65t regardless.

The weak link is either the pinion wearing out and causing wear to the spur, or the gearbox top coming loose and causing the spur to hop and slip. If you can keep everything tight, they can take some torque.

a 55T was too fast for me so I installed a 2.5:1 GRU. (and bent the output shaft on it today)

Good luck! I'm a month or so into building mine and having a blast.
The Nikko FJ bodies are just about impossible to find... I've been scouring internationally for several weeks now with no luck yet. Eventually....

Thats the other thing that kinda draws me toward the cc01. After market aluminum parts dont really break the bank to much my 2.2 jk scaler does lol.

I'll let you know which Al parts I recommend once I get my box of them from the slow boat from China. It always seems to take forever to get parts from over there... Incidentally, I think the ebay seller is having 40% off this month on the CC01 parts. At least that's what they told me in an email last week.

Put a 55T in my CC01 and thought it was wayyy to fast. So I put in a Integy Matrix Pro 65T. Still too fast for my Unimog. I'm gonna try 85T!

Well I got it yesterday and I didnt waste anytime I ordered the steering kit tore the whole things apart cleaned and installed the metal bearing kit. the only problem is what is the smallest pinion I can run on it and the gear that connects to the drive shafts seems to "slip" when you are wheeling it, it makes a terrible grinding noise any suggesttions?

Sounds like the gears are slipping. This is usually caused by the top plate (or gear cover whatever you want to call it) not being tight enough due to the screws slipping out. What a lot of people do to fix this is put longer screws through and a nut on the end done up really tight to hold it all together firm. The smallest pinion you can use is a 16T and the only other option is the 20T. On the motor plate there is 2 mounting positions to give the best mesh, one for each size pinion.

Hope this helps
