That's basically what I did. I went with the RCP CVD shafts because they are a stronger material than the stock TLT's, plus I have a bunch of worn out inners laying around. I'm sure the TLT shafts will be pleanty strong.

Truly a work of ingenuity!! You do awesome work. still want to see some vids of this thing in action. How'd you narrow the axial gears? Mill? |

As far as the gears, I used an old stub shaft to hold them then I chucked it up on my drillpress. Turned it on and used a dremel to cut the gears down. Crude but effective.

I ran it at a scale comp last Sunday and managed to get 1st place! I was able to get some much needed drive time as well. Aside form the horrible drag brake it performed flawlessly. My stiff foam setup didn't seem to be an issue especially on the slick river rocks where the G8 compound really shined. When they break in it will be even better. There were some crazy lines I was able to make, I figured the bigger longer scalers would walk right up but to my surprise, they struggled as much as I did. Of course lines that required a long WB to reach a ledge were an issue but that's what the winch is for. Stay tuned for some pics and hopefully a vid if I can figure it out. |

I forgot to post this earlier but here's the custom steering bell crank I made. Pretty rough looking but it works great! On the bottom, it retains the GPM lower arm. Never had an issue with it, only the upper kept coming loose. I shortened the upper arm by 2mm for increased steering due to the CVD's I'm using. |

Is it possible to just do the front portals and raise the rear suspension in a conventional way? Awesome setup BTW and congrats on your first place win. Well deserved. Oops, never mind. I read the entire thread and a rear axle flip is in order for it to work. Has anyone done it that way? Last edited by RABIDFOX; 04-16-2011 at 10:36 AM. |

I think i am going to try this idea, portals on front only. You will have to convert the portals to 1:1 ratio for it to run correctly

If i've read it right all the portals are 1:1 ratio now and that this is just for clearance correct? If i could do this and keep the reduction i'd be tempted to give it a try. |

| I'm still running the stock gears in the portals on 3s and a 17.5 brushless, if you don't get too trigger happy, you won't have any issues. |
