My first trail truck journey. So I'm new to the whole crawler/trail truck world (converted nitro head) so I started out sorta small with a CC 01 Unimog. I ditched the 1.5 wheels and put on some 1.9", but I might drop back down to the 1.5" rims and some agressive tires. I also ended up ditching the Mog body, I prefer the more durable hard bodys. I also removed the rear shocks for bigger 90mm ones (I had 90 mm in the front, but that didn't allow much travel). I'm going to update this thread whenvever I put new stuff on, as well as do some pictures. Mog body with the bigger wheels, shocks and lightbar: http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...462739_n-1.jpg Pajero hardbody with lightbar: http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/..._1669780_n.jpg Pajero hardbody again: http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...950668_n-1.jpg Pajero hardbody with custom blue LEDs (didn't have lighting kit) and brick removed. I will be putting up a rubber wall and putting lights in the lightbar: http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...660467_n-1.jpg And yes, the downstairs bathroom is my designated "hobby room" :D |
Looks good so far. But the body is mounted a bit high. Nice tires though! |
Thanks! Yeah the body is a bit high. Was having problems with the tires catching in the wheel wells when articulating. I'm thinking of dropping down to a 1.5" beadlock set with either some Mud Slingers or Super Swampers (assuming I can get those in 1.5"). |
the Boggers don't come in 1.5 but the IROK's and also the Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ do. I'd go with either one of these. "thumbsup" |
Thanks for the heads up on that, I'll check those out next time I'm at the LHS. |
So stopped down in the 'ol hobby shop to see if my CC Sidewinder ESC was in. Turns out for some strange and unknown reason it won't be here for another 2 weeks. So I just traded it in for an XL-5. I also picked up some 90mm RC4WD white shocks and a Novak 45t Rock Star motor. I also put an order in for some 1.55" Stamped Steel RC4WD beadlocks (white) and 1.55" Rock Crusher X/T tires to go with them. I like the 1.9s I currently have on, but they catch too much in the wheel arches for me. I also was introduced to the Junfac 4 link conversion kit for the CC01 and that really interested me. I might have to pick up that and put some portals on the front to gain a little clearance. I'll post some picks once I get some spare time. |
Just an update here, haven't done one in awhile. Needed an excuse to try the camera out on my new android phone, hopefully they look nice and crisp. Picked up a Novak Rock Star turn motor http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...nxx/IMG003.jpg Motor in truck http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...nxx/IMG002.jpg My Sidewinder V2 got lost in shipment, so I just picked up this XL5 and the Novak http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...nxx/IMG001.jpg My waterproof box (originally made to encase the Sidewinder, but went with the XL5 so I have ALOT of spare room in there) http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...nxx/IMG004.jpg Picked up a set of 1.55" Stamped Steel RC4WD Rims (ditched the 1.9") http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...nxx/IMG006.jpg Also picked up a set of Rock Crusher X/T (1.55") from RC4WD http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...nxx/IMG007.jpg Top down view of the truck without the body http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...nxx/IMG005.jpg Side view with the body http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...nxx/IMG008.jpg Front view http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...nxx/IMG009.jpg Front view with the lights on (still need some in the lightbar) http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...nxx/IMG010.jpg Let me know what you guys think! |
Looks Good!!! "thumbsup" I think I may have to go to 1.55's How do you like the shocks? I have those shocks too, in black. I'm only using them on the back since they're too long for the front (I wonder if portals would fix that). Did your 1.55's fit good without having to shave? I've been thinking of picking up some of those beadlocks also but, I was worried about having to shave the axles to fit them :???: |
I didn't shave any of the axles to fit these. I had to shave the body a bit to eliminate the rubbing when turning and articulating. I like these wheels a lot. I haven't had a chance to take them out crawling yet, just tested 'em in the backyard. |
Looks great man. good job |
Nice Job! I luv the look of those rims. I may have to pick up a set, and some tires, to see how they look on my Landy. |
