Steering mod IMO is needed. The stock parts have to much flex and the metal link between the two pivots is worthless. Get the GPM kit and use lock tite.

Brand new stock out of the box steering is pretty decent, but after some good trail running, the parts start to wear, and the steering gets sloppy. I would say that you should run the stock steering until it gets sloppy, then invest in the GPM steering, and as suggested....use Lock-Tite or it will loosen up real quick. Be prepared to mod the chassis too. Otherwise you could get some areas that bind a little.

You should run it stock with the standard servo first. That way you can determine if its sufficient for you or if you need to modify it (and spend money).
