for example, I got a toureg that has a 10.5 wheelbase and need a 10" wheelbase. or a 10" to a 9.5", is it a matter of switching screw positions on the link? (I saw a diagram once but dont exactly remember..)

Yes and no on the wheelbase. Ideally the toyota land cruiser will give you the most options. There are 2 sets of holes on the tub to mount the rear links and the land cruiser comes with a little "bridge" to let you mount them halfway between long and short wheelbase. Personally I would buy a kit. It allows you to understand how the rig works and how to fix it WHEN it breaks (not if, you will have gearbox issues someday, its fact... but these are great rigs.) Plus it allows for the "bonding" process. I bought a built rig once and sold the thing because I did not know it inside and out and never bonded with it. You may need to swap out the driveshaft or alter it with a dremel. |

does the toureg or the pajero not come with the "bridge?" The body I want to use on has a 10" wheelbase and I noticed that the Pajero has a 9.5" and the toureg has a 10.5" wheelbase. that bridge would be perfect! If it doesn't come with it, then do you guys know that part number? or where I can get it? |

I know my (old school) wrangler kit did not come with the bridge. Both my kits are from 1994 so I really cant speak for the new kits If you fab your own links then you can REALLY fine tune the rear. Sorry don't have the part number. If no one here remembers how to find it I know there is info on tamiyacrawlers.com for how to view the PDF's of manuals (and therefore part numbers) |

Pajero is set to short wheel base (9.5") so uses one set of holes in tub, no bridge. Touareg uses the long wheel base holes (10.5") so no bridge. FJ uses 10" wb i think, so needs bridge to use the stock cc-01 chassis. If you buy the pajero at 9.5" you can make 10.5 simply by screwing to the longer position holes, but you'll need a longer driveshaft (from touareg or make your own stretched one). Any other wheel base can be done but will require a bit of modifications (longer/shorter links to use the stock holes, driveshaft). |
