^^^

Those black beadlocks are sick.

I am using the cheap VR01 wheels from GMade, and they look pretty good...but if (when?) I upgrade, I'll seriously take a look at those ones there.

Newbie, stupid question incoming, just got a Toyota Land Cruiser 40 the Black Editions, find the tire a bit hard, so after reading many posts here it seems I ned a 1.9 tire and matching wheel.

Went down to my local store to see what they have they pointed to the 1.9 tires and they looked massive of course I dint take one of my wheels with me (should have don't that) they said oh you need the 1.55 for that truck.

So Im confused.

What I want to do is have some different wheel nice looking and scaled authentic looking, I would like them to be the same size as the stock ones, not taller. I thinking maybe white or black rims or even the black/silver type on my truck now. Not doing rock climbing just some basic off road/ bashing around the garden. Trails and maybe off bit of sand, no mud

So do I need 1.9 or 1.55

Saw the picture above with the super looking truck by paintable and I thought yes I want that looking wheel and tire, then I read he was re shaping the tire. That scared me as I have no idea what Im doing to be able to do all that.

RC4WD have indeed some nice looking wheels but they have so many again not sure what I actually need.

I don't want to end up with wheel hanging wide of the truck.

Not all tires are the same size...
Rc4wd has many different sizes.https://store.rc4wd.com/mobile/19-Tires_c_83.html

1.5" is the rim size, some/alot are bigger than 1.9's check out their store all specs are there.

I put 1.9 RC4WD Rock Stomper X/T tires on ProLine Bead Locks and they are tall for the CC01 but the grip is amazing. Running Memory Foams and some internal weight. Rig is pretty capable considering how limited the suspension is.

Without wideners the wheels actually fit under the wells nicely and there is no rub. With wideners better stability but I had to lift the body to avoid cutting a lot out of the well in the front.

Looks good.

You say some weight, where are you putting it, into the chassis or the body shell . What do you use may I ask?

I went with RC4WD:
-Stamped Steel 1.55 Stock White Beadlock Wheel
-Mud Thrashers 1.55 Scale Tires

I like the combo but it was finicky getting them to work well. Had to mess around with different width wheel hexes to get clearance of the c-hub. The wheel looks good, especially on a retro vehicle, and I really like the tire. They are still going to require some minor trimming to the body.

If you want an easier solution I would wait to see what the opinions are on these:
54598 Lock Block Tire Soft 2 pcs. (CC-01)

I, for one, will be trying these for my CC-01s. Hopefully they come out soon.

I wrapped thick solder wire around the rims before installing the tires. The Proline beadlocks have a weight system. In the front I used the lightest system and in the back the wire. Couple of ounces...nothing crazy. Makes the rig climb better.

OK worked out what I want to try and find.

I would like to get 1.9" but no more than 90-93mm Max.

Something with authentic looking treed.

Did find the RC4WD Rock Crusher but to get 93mm I need to get the 1.55.

Is there anything out there that are 90mm 1.9

Also need to some nice rims to go with them

Cheers

CC01 tire choices comparison, can see where some other tires stack up against the stock ones. (4th from left) all 1.9.

Little old, there are a few more choices out there. Not pictured are the Vaterra TSL's that are on the Slickrock - they look and fit perfect on my FJ, and are very well priced to boot. Almost a perfect tire for the CC chassis. The RC4WD Rock Creepers are also an excellent choice.

My FJ with 2 different types of 1.55's and mud thrashers..Works great for me.

If you haven't already, take a stroll through the CC01 gallery...lots of options there.

So my new wheels are here, installed, really like the look of them, they are a bitch to fit and Im having another one sent to me as one tire the rubber was deformed. RC4WD wanted me to send them all back but after seeing it would have cost me about $30 to ship the agreed just to send me one replacement. So the wonky one I shall make it into a spare to attach to the back of the Land Cruiser, talking of that any easy way to mount it?

Couldn't see a way to insert a picture so below is a link to a small gallery showing the new wheels

Crushers look good on there! Great fit.

Another option: Vaterra TSL's - review in the Tires/Wheels section.

Did you have to modify those wheels to get the tires to fit? The last I knew about those them they had funky sidewalls. Kinda like shortcourse wheels.

There are 2 different versions of the HPI Nascar wheels. The first version was a standard touring car wheel, then they released the vintage wheels/tires with the different diameter inner/outer beads.

EDIT: after looking at his pic closer those may be the vintage wheels and the Tundra beadlock ring may make up the difference.
